The Transportation Department is looking into technology to disable cell phones in vehicles, according to Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood.

"There's a lot of technology out there that can disable phones and we're looking at that," LaHood said on MSNBC's "Morning Joe."

"I think it will be done," he said.

I dunno, we survived without having immediate phone and texting in cars growing up. I’m sure today’s kids will also...LOL

So there you are in a wreck, trapped in your car down an embankment and can’t call for help. How about Onstar?

God save us from these idiots.

"Progressives," leftists, and statists are only concerned with "doing good" and "good intentions." It never matters that their "good intentions" often wind up killing people. Leftists' "good intentions are littered with the bodies of millions of innocent people they claim to be trying to help. And they never take responsibility for their damage, since they "meant well."

Let me see we're going to have government mandated cell phone "zappers", a breath-a-lizer ignition switch so we can't drive drunk, and an engine kill switch so the cops can stop us if we're speeding

How long will it be before they propose a "libido disabler" for the back seat ?

I’ll be your first customer. I’m really starting to get pissed-off with my government. This is not just politics. This is the action of enemies of the state.

Why not just ban private ownership of vehicles?

Here's a problem they're not looking at, cell phone jammers also interfere with GPS reception. I know, I have a portable cell phone jammer and it screws up my Garmin GPS.

And this technology can tell the difference between a driver’s phone and one of the passengers?

It makes me curious how LaHood and his fascist buddies in DC will make it with no food, water or electricity.

Jammers may also affect B/G 802.11 wireless internet.

Hmmm, I haven't tested this with my portable cell phone jammer. ( http://www.globalgadgetuk.com/cell-phone-jammers.htm ) I do know this jammer interferes with my Garmin GPS.

Assuming the jammer covers 800MHz to 1900MHz continuous, it would nuke GPS at 1500MHz. That's the problem with jammers. Cheap ones cover bands and do a pretty good job. Good ones that cover specific frequencies are VERY expensive.

And in spite of the fact that the morons constantly complain about those who talk wile driving, has anyone ever thought about how many drivers call someone to keep them awake?

Every driver has a cell phone. So tell me why the accident rate, fatal and none, has gone down significantly during the same period that the cell phone became a necessity?

I know, they have wrecks while talking. That proves something.

They also have wrecks while breathing.

I think that proves something as well.

You will have to put your penis in an electrified sleeve, if your car detects an erection it is disabled, both your car and penis.

The more I think of the technical ways this might be accomplished, the more psychotic this LaHood organism becomes.

I rather think it is the actions of the minions of the state, and the enemies of the nation.
