pilots with the Air Force are required to fly at least 1,000 feet above congested areasThey must have changed the rules. Back in the years WWll I remember fighter planes doing practice dog flights in the skies of rural Nebraska. I was too young to go to school, but my older brothers said that as they walked or rode their bicycles to and from school, the fighter planes would come flying along the roads that the kids were traveling. I asked my brother how high they were flying. "Twice the elevation of the power and telephone poles along side of the road," he said. Of course those weren't jets. I suspect that in addition to flight time, the 18-20 year old pilots were scoping out the young ladies.

1000 feet is very low. That wasn’t lower

Trust me on this: They did not fly over Kennick Stadium. Not at any altitude.
However, I’ve heard rumors they did a flyover at Kinnick.

Looked like a good pass to me. I wouldn't waste a dime on investigating.
I was on the Mall after Gulf I for the victory celebration. The F-117s did a fly by a lot lower than that. I swear I saw the tops of the trees move in their jet wash...

I was there. It was awesome! After all, our stadium is named for a fighter pilot! It certainly seemed lower than the various other fly overs of Kinnick I’ve seen. However, I know I’m not an expert on such and would guess any absolute estimate I’d make would be well off on the low side. Everyone in the stands seemed suitably and favorably impressed! They presented all the flyers on the field at half time to a large round of applause, something I wish the article had mentioned.

In 1991 I was part of a MWR maintenance crew repairing a water/shade way station at the Dyess AFB's golf course. There was to be an airshow the next day so inbound air traffic was heavy. While we were doing a roof repair the Blue Angels came out of nowhere, screaming by at what seemed to be about 50' AGL. I was simultaneously terrified, thrilled, amazed and only able to stuff my heart back down my throat after 15 minutes or so. Our flight chief told us that they did this every time they came to the airshow. Small price to pay for their services IMHO.
