I don’t get it. Where did he cave on anything? As it stands right now, the economy-crippling uncertainty continues.

There shouldn’t be an Estate Tax period....that’s taxes paid money, and it’s criminal to “redistribute” just because of a death.

Correct. This is the reason we've lost so many family farms and businesses over the years. Anyone who's estate is tied up in property or equipment ends up having to sell it to pay the death tax. It was all written about in Das Kapitol.

THEN, come next year, pass a bill to MAKE ALL BUSH TAX CUTS PERMANENT and we’ll have MORE time to fight the Dem Senate and Obama and make this an issue come 2012 if they don’t cooperate.

Wow you have more faith in the GOP than I do. I think once they get this through they'll drop it quick to get the public attention off the issue. Deep down they're still spineless for the most part. This should have been addressed BEFORE the election.

Maybe what’s going on is less MSM Clinton-hatred than MSM-CYA. They are the ones who pushed Obama throughout the primaries and the election. They have lied, spun and cheer-led for this man in a way I haven’t seen outside places like the Soviet Union. If Obama crashes and burns, there goes the last of the MSM’s credibility, even with many of the old line true believers. It’s a possibility, anyway.

You must not be up on the story.

This is a huge cave for Obama who has been promising all along that he would never allow for he wealthy tax cuts to be extended.

He is not breaking that promise (caving) and has now lost more of his left wing support forever.

Big win for the GOP who played this right and America too which will now see unemployment fall.

The estate tax is supported by the likes of Warren Buffet who makes alot of money selling life insurance policies to offset the estate tax.
It’s just another Ponzi scheme of a private/public partnership.

Keeping the status-quo is not a tax cut. I am SO sick of this terminology being used (abused) by this lying pile of donkey dung in the White House (or Air Sludge One).

Further, I have no doubts The Steaming One has planned all along to tie extension of the already insanely-long unemployment benefits to the tax issue.

Hello Mr. crack-head in Chief - you gripe and complain about how to “pay for” the “tax cuts”, but you don’t care at all how these further extensions of unemployment benefits would be paid for.

I guess he subscribes to his compatriot in crap’s theory - that every dollar spent on unemployment = $2 to the economy (where did this stupid statement originate? The USSR?

He will continue to push his Marxist agenda till about a year or 6 months before election 2012.

Most Americans have a short memory and shorter attention span and more than30% are getting a check from the gubbamint. I would not be surprised if he won again.

O love how in all of this debate there is no mention — that I have heard — of SPENDING CUTS!!!!

Actually, there has been discussion of some cuts... but guess where: Defense. No proposed cuts to social programs (which now represent the by-far largest chunk of federal spending- and the one part that is most unconstitutional).

The only part of the US Budget the libs EVER want to cut - the one that is mandated by the Constitution, and the one we MOST need - Defense.

And as Rush points out - why isn’t it that “Obama _Compromises_ on Taxes”?

Because ‘Compromise’ is what _Republicans_ should do. When one of theirs does it - it’s “Caving”. For them ‘Compromise’ is only one way.

You are correct. No one is getting a tax cut in this bill.

Not poor, middle, rich, or super-rich.

It is a tax increase bill. No one is having their taxes increased.

But, but... weren’t Bush’s tax cuts only for the rich?
I mean, that’s all we heard from the left when they were implemented, right? So how can the prez say he wants them extended for everyone but the rich if only the rich got them in the first place? Makes me think the left was *gasp* lying just to try and make Bush look bad... that can’t be right...right?
Bleah....

I am up on the story. I simply do not believe a single word that Obama says. When Obama actually signs a bill that fixes the top income tax rate at 35% and locks in the rate on long-term capital gains at 15%, only then will I acknowledge that he caved. Keep in mind that without Obama’s signature, all rates go up in 3½ weeks which is what he has always wanted all along. Also keep in mind that Nancy Pelosi still holds the gavel. I don’t trust her either.
