On Air Force One, spokesman Bill Burton told reporters that Pres. Obama is confident a tax cut compromise will be struck in next few days.
Spokesman says Obama will not sign a tax cuts extensions for wealthy unless bill also includes exentsion of unemployment benefits.
Obama also wants stimulus tax breaks extended as part of the deal as well.
**** NO ONE IS GETTING A TAX CUT. This is just posturing to keep taxes where there are right now... exorbitantly high. ****
And folks better wake up and look around regarding this inside Beltway nonsense scam. If they really believed in “equal rights” EVERY unemployed and under-employed legal U.S. citizen should be included in this!
Otherwise this is plain DISCRIMINATION. Ronald Reagan would call them in on this, ALL OR NOTHIN! ..just as he did the Soviets and their so called missle deal. FOR ALL or nothin...Watch what happens to this “deal” if the cry for EVERY citizen is included in this.
Hell of a lot of tuition to shell out for a job at CVS...
Does leftist Newsweak think they are funny in they're mocking; or what? The very image HTML has the term moonbattery in it.
GOP caved too on paying for the unemployment benefits, why isn’t that in the headline?
>>>>The Rats are going on record as saying that NOT raising your taxes is mow a tax cut.
The DemonRats live in a world where a 5% increase in a budget vs. the 10% they want is a 5% cut...
Thank you! Let's get this language CORRECT, there are NO TAX CUTS.
You’re telling me....we’re looking at grad school
The real key to all of this is under the radar:
DO NOT INCREASE THE DEBT CEILING!
Everything else will take care of itself.
Not news at all. In the Reagan years, his administration proposed reducing the growth rate of certain entitlement programs (e.g., instead of a 10% increase next year, it'll be a 9.5% increase). The DemocRATs howled about how Reagan was "cutting entitlements".
Same twisted thinking...
“The Rats are going on record as saying that NOT raising your taxes is mow a tax cut.”
The RATS have been doing this for years in another area also, claiming that slowing down the rate of growth of this government program or that is a ‘spending cut’, when spending actually is still increasing, but at a (slightly) slower rate. That is also a BLATANT LIE as it is not a spending cut in any way, shape of form.
It’s basically lying that’s clever enough to fool, I dunno, 60 to 70% of the public and against which Conservatives have not launched effective counter attacks (until perhaps this coming year?)
Any tax increase is the 0bama tax increase.
‘And YES GOP members STOP referring to it as BUSH TAX CUTS. These rates have been in existence for a decade. They are not cuts, but the choice we have is keep the current rates (no RAISE, no CUT) we get to suffer the Obama tax INCREASES.’
Right - our message should be that we’re fighting tooth and nail against Obama era tax hikes during the GREAT Recession.
Just waiting for the day when we’re all fitted with methane detectors and fined for excessive emissions .... TSA workers could do the installations.
If the extension is not signed soon there will be a big selloff on the stock exchanges as investors anticipate the increase in capital gains in 2011. It could be very damaging to the economy.
No it isn’t. He can and will continue to cause trouble.
Barry is not in a position to negotiate. He lost the mid-term elections and is trying to spin. Republicans need to make sure that any changes to taxes that occur January 1, 2011 are called the 0bama tax increases, the largest in US history.
The spending is a problem of course. No one is arguing with that . Unless there are spending cuts, and DRASTIC ones, the 700 billion (over 10 years) is not going to mean anything as far as the debt is concerned .But two wrongs don’t make a right and you don’t keep throwing good money after bad. If tax cuts for the wealthiest 2% were invested in business we would be overflowing with work. In fact there was NO increase on the numbers of employment in this decade that can be placed upon their ‘effectiveness’
As to the tax increase argument, Republicans argue that Democrats want to increase taxes. Nope. Democrats simply want to restore the tax to the rate during Bill Clinton’s administration. When the sale price returns to the normal retail price, you don’t cry that prices have increased.
If you can’t cut back enough to live with the post sale “tax increase” on your 250+K a year, you have serious problems. And according to polls that is where half of all Americans draw the line.
