If the House Republicans use their new majority next year to block Obama from further hurting the economy, then the unemployment rate will contract and people will not need to take advantage of all thirteen months of the unemployment extension.

Agreed. It was either that or welfare.

Getting a check for not working is welfare.

I want to see how many people are going to be eligible for this unemployment handout. The number Obama used, 2M, seemed low.

My family’s business is converting a lot of people to independent contractors.. thanks to Zero’s economy. Only work when they are needed.

He says he completely disagrees with the AGREEMENT he is making. What a pretentious fool. If he disagrees he should either not agree, or veto it, not be self serving and contradictory.

“Cannot play politics ...”

What BS! His speech was ALL about politics and appeasing the far left.

Obama has broken his pledge to raise taxes on the rich. His left wing will be furious.

PLUS...employers are going to have a 4% (2 for the worker, 2 for the employer) payroll holiday. This opens the door to privitization of social security. This is what Bush pushed for.

This sounds quite good, despite the temporary unemployment extension.

Time to form a new bipartisan Debt Reduction Commission.

this guy is a street thug!!

That's exactly what he is. He doesn't have any idea what it is to be a statesman. I can't wait until he's gone. 2012 can't come soon enough. He can't even work out a tax deal without blaming, blaming, blaming the other party. Republicans better not pass any of his other crap.

That was my thought. Cave in on the UI with no offset, take office in January, and bring out the chainsaw to make cuts. We can be the part of NO on spending, but, not the party of NO when it comes to the unemployed, willfully, or not.

Shall we draw straws to see who goes over to DU to see what they’re saying?

How I love watching that arrogant sissy-bitch admitting on National TV that he just had his sad Kommie ass handed to him in a sack by the New GOP.

Right, the far left is furious. Keep your eye on BO, and the strong push by the left to bypass congress to further the agenda.

Obama rushed through his set piece...then took off in a snit. Must be having ice cream cones for desert.

He has zero grace. The tone of this “speech” was an insult to the American people.

Did you listen to his speech? He’s pathetic. His entire speech demonized the Republicans.

I love how Obambi acts as though his Brilliance has finally cracked this nut — discovering only what economists and the American people have been screaming at the top of their lungs for two years.

His pontification on the Economic Insights he found at the Republican mountaintop is amazing. That said, I have to say his delivery on this speech was one of the most sincere and least ridiculous I have seen in quite a while.

I guess mouthing economic truths, i.e. that tax increases do in fact hurt the economy, still has power even if the person mouthing them only vaguely gets it.
