WASHINGTON -- Food safety legislation stalled by a constitutional snag could be revived as part of a giant year-end budget bill.

The bill to increase the Food and Drug Administration's powers to keep food safe stalled after overwhelmingly passing the Senate last week. House Democrats said after it passed that the bill contains fees that are considered tax provisions, which under the Constitution must originate in the House.

Yesterday, the U.S. House attached the Senate’s so-called “Food Safety” language from the S. 510 bill to HR 3082, the Continuing Resolution (CR), which is an administrative bill that funds government to keep it from shutting down.

The vote to attach it was 212-205 with no Republicans voting for the bill.

If HR 3082 becomes law, 4,000 new FDA agents will be unleashed to interfere in farming and food production, according to Natural Solutions Foundation. Liberals made this last minute procedural move because the bill had been ruled unconstitutional. In short, no bill with tax implications or fees can originate in the Senate. It must come FROM the House and be sent TO the Senate. By attaching it to a House bill yesterday, liberals bypassed the constitutional problem.

H.R. 3082 (with S. 510 attached) is now going to the U.S. Senate—where many Senators are up for re-election in 2012.

Thanks, I guess, for the news - unwelcome as it may be....

Looks like it’s time to start planning how to take my veggie garden ‘underground’... (Believe it or not, Pot Growers have developed a number of tricks that might be adaptable for other, more useful, crops.....)

The House passed their version of S-510 Food Safety last spring. I don’t know the bill number.

S-510 needs to be merged with the House version & re-voted upon by both chambers of Congress.

Pelosi, Reid & NObama are trying to make an end run with this bill.

The “Food Safety Act Bill” is a monstrosity.

Couple this with the “world’s largest army” thread,
and you see what they’re after.

They know they can’t control 300 million Americans,
especially with at least half of them armed.

So, they have to reduce the numbers.

Rabbits, other than the Easter Bunny, don’t lay eggs.
You probably have the right idea going with chickens instead of rabbits.

You can trade a couple dozen eggs for a rabbit if you get a hankerin’ later.

Yup, we did bunnies before, but just couldn’t get ‘em to lay eggs. Decided it was better the old fashioned way. Now if I could just get my goats to give yogurt, instead of me having to take it from them.

BTW Rabbit meat is better for you than chicken, cheaper to raise and easier to fix.

Our current arrangement works fine for us.
