Yada, yada, yada!!!

You cool your own jets and ditch your campaign of discrediting potential candidates that don't give you the old conventional wisdom warm and fuzzies.

And P.S. don't dane to be giving fellow FReepers acting lessons when you live in a glass house!!!

Yada, yada, yada!!!

You see, that's the problem with what passes for political discourse on both the Left and Right these days. Too much sniping, cynicism and close-mindedness. Too many people's default starting position is to assume the very worst about anyone whose point of view isn't precisely, tittle and jot, like their own.

I am not engaged in a "campaign," as you put it, to discredit "potential candidates" (read Sarah Palin). I'm simply not on anyone's bandwagon yet and won't be until the California primary in 2012. Until then, my mind is open, and I am evaluating all possible candidates. I do strongly resist having any of them shoved down my throat by anyone, however.

I've just changed my tagline to a very apropos Lincoln quote: "If you would win a man to your cause, first convince him that you are his friend." (I would only amend it for modern sensibilities to say man or woman.) Something to think about.

First of all, you three should cool your jets. I observed a fact.

And we responded. That's how a forum works.

Now you know, so you can cool your jets.

Yep, that’s how a forum works alright. So I responded right back. Is that what you want? Juvenile tit for tat? So foolish.

If your definition of any conversational back-and-forth is going to be reduced in your mind to juvenile “tit-for-tat” then indeed that would be a waste of time.

Or did you expect all the hundreds of thousands of individual FReepers to simply agree with you and send you attaboys?

What I expect is something that unfortunately is in extremely short supply anywhere on the internet, and that is civility. Not agreement, but civility. There is nothing "conversational" to be found in almost any internet forum.

As for "hundreds of thousands of individual FReepers," I see you've been a member since 2008. I, on the other hand, go back almost to the very beginning, so can tell you first hand that FR is a ghost of its former self. There might be hundreds of thousands who registered through the years, but there are only a comparative few who are active now. Threads that, in the past, would have drawn hundreds of responses now only draw a handful. This is not a commentary on FR, itself, but rather the fact that most forums are declining as social media like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc., have risen dramatically in popularity.

Every one of the old timers I've talked to on this forum spoke of the never ending flame wars. Today seems tame to them.

As you sit there, pecking on your keyboard, in your glass house, thinking you are going to impress someone that you appear to be the smartest person in the forum by holding yourself above all the other mere mortals who are so seemingly stupid by trying to encourage someone they like to become a candidate... you feel it is your God-given calling to call them out before they might make a mistake that you are certainly too wise and clever to even consider.

So you start with your ad hominem attacks on someone that is without doubt possessed of far more courage and character than you'll ever possess!!!

Take your arrogant, moderate, insecure and caustic attitude to a place where it will be appreciated. Good luck on ever finding such a place... In the meantime, you'll find me shunning and ignoring you on this website as I find your "open mind" is so open that we can all hear the wind whistling through it as I type this!!!

Apparently her Amy Farrah-Fowler act was about as welcome over there as it is here.

She was shunned.

Oh, wow. You saw a thread where ‘a poster’ said she/he wouldn’t vote for anyone if Palin wasn’t the nominee.

No wonder you are up in arms about her. I get it now.

All is forgiven.

Yes, that other site went bust eventually.

I forgot the name. It was formed during the Rudy purge.
Now some are back here, using anti-Palin barbs.

Anyway, they still stink up Palin threads whenever they can.

You can spot them pretty easily, when they call FReepers "you people" and use the "thin skin" meme and accuse FR of squelching free speech!

I’ve thought for a long time that the Republicans, of which I’m not one, should refer to this debate as Obama’s tax hikes.

I’ve, also, thought that after the initial 26 weeks, this money should be a loan, and should be expected to be paid in full with interest.

However, the inhabitants of our halls of power don’t agree with me. WRT gaining power, and how to go about it, the Republicans are almost as bad as the ‘rats.
