One thing Rahm couldn't do before was to convince people that he was some kind of delicate little flower being victimized by those rough Chicago politicians.
He's always been the tough political guy, the guy who gets in the policy wonk's face and tells him to put a cork in it before the policy wonk has a chance to screw up a campaign.
Rahm's the guy who sends the fish, the guy who never lets a good crisis go to waste. Clearly, he hasn't let this one go to waste, either.

They forgot to say “lying, foul mouthed POS”.
Suddenly it's no longer about residency or legality, it's about Rahm the victim vs. the evil Chicago machine.
Now it's about feelings, not facts.
That's a dead givaway for me - any time a politician boards the spin train to feeling-land, it means the facts are not on his side.
And it really doesn't matter what Queen Sister says...
Exactly! It does not matter that Rahm Emanuel made a specialty of character assassination and slander campaigns directed against his political opponents, it is unfair when others criticize him! Who gives a damn about a legal residency requirement applicable to all municipal candidates for approximately 140 years or so? Rahm was working for Obama the Man!
As for a pity party, Rahm’s squad is now saying that use of his full name (Rahm Israel Emanuel) is a bigoted slur in the same way that referring to the president (Barack Hussein Obama) by his full name is a slur despite the fact that this is how the president prefers to refer to himself on official occasions (like when be inaugurated).
Life is so unfair!
