Palin to Haiti with Graham
Politico ^ | 12/9/10 at 7:14 PM EST | Andy Barr

Posted on 12/09/2010 6:44:27 PM PST by Josh Painter

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is heading to Haiti this weekend with evangelist Franklin Graham, a Palin source confirmed to POLITICO.

Palin and Graham will visit a cholera clinic in addition to other stops, as was first reported by CNN.

The Haiti visit was the second foreign trip to surface Thursday. Palin is also planning possible visits next year to Israel and Britain.

The Haiti trip could serve two distinct political purposes for Palin.

First, it provides an opportunity to expand her image and policy portfolio beyond her limited image as a darling of the tea party movement.

Second, she'll be able to better establish her claim to evangelical voters if she chooses to seek the Republican presidential nomination. Evangelicals overwhelmingly supported former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, one of Palin's potential 2012 rivals, in the early 2008 GOP primaries and caucuses.

“Hey, everybody just stay out of haiti!!

I am sick of pouring in billions to these God forsaken hell holes run by con men called “Leaders”...”

Right on! recovering Ex-hippie. Haiti is a perfect example of how socialist/war lords create misery and death. Go across the river into the Dominican Republic and it’s like paradise by comparison - yet same ‘geography’ and ‘demographic’ but the difference is only in the form of gov’t. Very similar to Milton’s comparison of Japan and India after WWII.

Best would be to hand over the whole island to the Dominicans and let them restore rule of law and private property on the other side of the river.

So glad she's moving about off shore. This is a very good thing...Britain and others as well...exciting as this is what Presidents do...getting her feet wet yet AGAIN! Very good move on her part. However I disagree her image is 'limited' to the tea party movement....her image goes worldwide as has been seen and reported.

Even more so if she would have done this earlier.

Yeah well, she's been a little busy lately, what with midterm congressional elections and all, not to mention an idiot president who needs his feet held to the fire. But hell, you knew that anyway didn't you junior.

Excellent!! Love Sarah and Franklin. Franklin has the courage to speak truth, and so does Sarah.

Franklin also knows that Obama is NOT a Christian, he as much as said so a number of times, without actually saying it.

Glad that I am not the only one that KNOWS Obama is NOT a Christian

I agree but only in part....their religious practices harm thier critical thinking processes a great deal.....alone they cannot pull this off any more than India’s been able to without allot of outside people coming in and devoting massive amounts of time and energy to lift them above their circumstances. And as you say those with any grey matter to use are corrupt so until they have those removed and a stable government it simply is not going to happen no matter how much money is funded there.

When the people voted in the past, they put in office leadership who daily sought guidance from a decapitated head he consulted in making his decisions. So the people are unable to elect “sane” individuals. As I see it a transitional government is the only way to even begin getting Haiti on it’s feet...and the people will rebel against that. I really do not hold much hope for the country to be more than what it is.

Perhaps not..but if they continue as has been you can bet things will not get any better there. Time and again they face the same issues and refuse to budge on that which keeps them bound to all this distruction...within their government and among their citizens. You almost have to change the culture is some respects before any changes will occur there.

If you ever go there it will be very hard for you to tell hungry people that you refuse to help them until their government changes its ways.

Their whole culture is stagnant. I went down with a team and helped to build a church.

We worked all day long and the entire congregation would come every morning and watch us until evening when we left.

Very few of them would lift a brick. They just watched.

In the end, we didn’t do anything they couldn’t have done themselves.

But it was still worthwhile.

This is great. Samaritan Purse’s work has probably been more effective than the egencies that get alot more attention.

I love Sarah, but I can not support her in this. This is just not the right thing for her to get involved with.

"FIRST and foremost, it establishes her as a caring Christian who is concerned for her fellow man."

Thanks to their Christian walk both Billy and Sarah know that each human being is precious, even the wee little ones.

Christians go to places like Haiti because they are doing God's will and they are obedient to it. This relationship between Billy Graham and Sarah goes back to the McCain campaign. As you can see in the photo, it is a pretty special one.

“So we go. We go and share Christ, and we keep sharing Christ until He returns and gathers His ransomed people in. What a glorious day that will be!”

I understand. But in the case of Haiti, it’s voodoo fodder to do so.

I can appreciate the effort of trying again, over and over, in spite of 6 centuries of total failure. But come on, 600 years of Abstract: Failure to Show the Light?

Haiti just might be the contemporary version of Sodom and Gomorrah. Only now, God says, “okay son, it’s your problem, you deal with it. Let me know how it turns out.”

We already know God’s resolve. If Lot were here today, he could remind us. But, I guess we’ll have to be patience to see WWJD. Seems he hasn’t made up his mind yet. But he sure seems busy making their lives hell on earth. Only, for now, and, unlike his Father did for the wicked in S&G, he has been unable to pull the trigger.

Sometimes, turning your other cheek just gets you and your entire family slaughtered. So, I tend favor God’s approach to combating evil. I’m old school that way. It’s just my nature.
