10 Senate Democrats Targeted for Defeat in 2012
US News ^ | 12/09/10 | Paul Bedard

Posted on 12/12/2010 2:17:22 PM PST by freespirited

The upcoming election has disaster written all over it for Senate Democrats... 23 are up for reelection in 2012 and many sit where the Republican surge is hitting. Plus, most voted for the president's agenda that included healthcare reform and the bailouts of Wall Street and auto industry. ... the National Republican Senatorial Committee has a top 10 list of Senate Democrats to beat.

1. Nebraska's Ben Nelson. The NRSC will remind voters of Nelson's support for Majority Leader Harry Reid...

2. Montana's Jon Tester. While popular at home, Tester comes from a Republican state that the GOP is confident of winning back with the right candidate.

3. Ohio's Sherrod Brown. Ohio elected a Republican senator and governor in November and party officials believe the swing to the GOP will continue in 2012.

4. Missouri's Claire McCaskill. Seats in Missouri are always tough to defend because the state's electorate is split. But like many other states, Missouri seems to be trending Republican.

5. Florida's Bill Nelson. Look for outgoing Sen. George LeMieux ... to run against Nelson in a state where Tea Party is strong.

6. West Virginia's Joe Manchin. Another state trending Republican ...

7. Pennsylvania's Bob Casey. GOP sees a good chance to pick up another Senate seat in Pennsylvania where fiscal conservative Toomey won in November.

8. Wisconsin's Herb Kohl. If Kohl runs for reelection, Republicans feel they have a good chance to portray him as the same kind of liberal as ousted Russ Feingold. ...

9. Virginia's Jim Webb. Another purple state that has been painted red in recent elections, Webb could find himself running against former Sen. George Allen.

10. North Dakota's Kent Conrad. Conrad worked hard on the Obama healthcare plan, and that will be a problem for many Democrats, GOP believes. ...

I hope you’re right. I can’t stand Debbie Stabenow.

True. The whole thing is OPPONENT. “You Can’t Beat Somebody with Nobody.” Time Magazine, Monday, Nov. 19, 1990. Bill Bradley, D-N. You can only beat some body with somebody whom the voters consider qualified and better than the schlub you are trying to throw out. So let us find them....now!

We need to do something about the Soros SOS program where the Secretaries of State bought and paid for by Soros see no vote fraud, hear no vote fraud, and allow all vote fraud.

All this political plotting and planning means nothing if the votes are manipulated.

Good list. Agree with most of your random thoughts, I just remain unconvinced that Webb will seek re-election. Doesnt seem to me that he likes the job all that much.

Dick (soon to be 80) Lugar. a great guy, did good things as Mayor of Indy, but needs to hang it up

Absolutely. His sponsorship of the DREAM act--and his all-out enthusiasm for it--make him totally undeserving of another term. Won't surprise me if he is the only Republican who votes for this damn thing when it comes up later in the week.

YUP!....and she's gonna face an uphill battle if the new Governor and the party can focus...

Olympia was the vote that got Obamacare out of committee....then voted against it...knowing it would pass....

Id drive that point and video of it down her throat and make that the ONLY issue she faces early on......

WI is in the midst of a Republican Renaissance. I’m hoping we can retire “Nobody’s Senator....But Nobody’s” Herbie the Potted Plant Kohl.

Hutchison isn’t running again is she?! First she promised she would quit if she lost the governor race, then she said she would serve out her term. If she runs for reelection she will look like quite a liar. Not to mention I hope she is succeeded by Michael Williams. Would be great if the only black senator were a conservative Republican!

If Nelson of FL was up for reelection in 2010 he would have lost.

He will be gone in 2012.

She also said she would only run twice but when term limit legislation failed, she ran a third time because no one else was forced into term limits, so she wasnt gonna be either.

I agree he would have been knocked out this year. I just hope the momentum carries and Floridians dont go back to “hes a conservative democrat” or “hes ok, its not like he is Harry Reid.”

I agree that we don’t need LeMieux. He acts & votes like just another Rino when we need another Marco Rubio. I’m wondering what conservative here in Florida will step up to the plate & run against Bill Nelson.
Looking back I once was a Democrat but the party became Progressive so I changed to Republican but that party became Democrat so now I’m an Independent Conservative. I keep staying the same but the parties keep moving left. Maybe they will start dropping off the planet into the never never land. We can only hope.

So Hutchison is running? She sure has a problem with telling the truth. I sure hope she is primaried.

I agree with EVERY thing you said. I saw KBH interviewed yesterday or today and when asked about running for re-election she said that she is going to take some time off during the holidays and "think about it."

I think she will have primary opponents and won't win if she does decide to run again.

She has been making noises for 8 years that she is tired of D.C. That's why she ran for gov...so she could come back to TX. She just doesn't want to give up the POWER. She is so out of touch she doesn't realize her chances of being re-elected aren't good, IMO.

If the people are paying attention, this man is easy to defeat. He ran as a pro-life candidate. Using his father's name and the pro-life stance was what the Democrats used to unseat Santorum. Just look at the way this guy has voted. There is no pro-life in his votes. He is just an Obama puppet, nothing else. If he votes pro-life from here on out, I'd consider voting for him. If he votes with the Democrats and with the people who denied his father the right to speak at Clinton's convention because he was pro life, he's history as far as I am concerned. If the Republicans use his record so far, he is easy to beat.

Corker is a stealth lib. He needs to be primaried. Wicker here in MS is OK. Scott Brown is the walking dead as he won’t have the tea party next time.
