This is an issue only if we go grade school on it.
My cousin served in Viet Nam and he was a crier too. The only thing was that when he teared up you knew that one or more people were about to get their A$$ whipped.
There is nothing wrong with it as long as it doesn't cloud his mind.
One of those WW2 vets was a guy George S Patton, known to cry copiously in the presence of those who he considered to be honorably wounded or KIA (had a bit of a problem with combat fatigue cases though).

Seeing snippets of this interview only RAISED my opinion of Boehner. As a female, I know that women crying sometimes makes them look weak and emotional, so I try to avoid doing so in most environments. But for some reason, when a tough guy cries occasionally, particularly when talking about his family and country, it strikes a chord. Sure beats B.O.’s inappropriate, chimp-like baring of the incisors.
