With all this hype about Obama caving into the demands of the Republicans and the media and the lunatics on the left having a hissy fit regarding the centrist position that Obama took by agreeing to leave the tax rates alone for 2 years.

It seems awfully strange that his approval index has not dropped. He hasn't swayed any independents with his transparent attempt at triangulation and those on the right still rightfully fear this dangerous ideologue. So why hasn't he dropped off? I remember when Bush began to lose some on the right after the amnesty and Harriet Meirs debacles its when his polls sank to their absolute lows, so how is it that Obama gets called every name in the book by the professional left and yet his polls do not reflect it?

I think that the left realize that their socialist dreams led by Der Fuherer Obama have been rejected and in order to save their hero Obama and give him a chance to bring them the promised land in his second term, they have elected to adopt this faux manuever of claiming that Obama supports the Republicans positions and has never really been a Progressive.

1) Watch what the OTHER hand is doing - most goings on are meant to distract.
2) Stick with the opposite - you’ll be better off finding the truth there.
3) Look for the motivators - NOT what is actually happening. Ask WHY not WHAT.

Public opinion generally doesn't pivot on a dime. Most Americans aren't watching events as closely as we are.

As word gets around, he'll see a decline -- probably from the left. On the other hand, the moderates may actually approve this exercise in their sainted "bi-partisanship" and compromise -- and he may get an offsetting bump there.

Maybe it has something with the center not holding...?

Just guessing.

So if I read this correctly this poll was taken Sunday, the 12th of December. I think having old Bill Clinton give the ‘tax cut’ presser on Friday tended to massage the memories of those days gone by.

I guess we will see. I just have a bad feeling that this is all hype and spin in order to try and regain some of the independents and that even with all the moaning on the left they will continue to lockstep with this guy because he is their messiah.

The left have no souls and are bold faced liars... to them the ends (marxism) justifies any means.

Yes but if you believe the hype of the media and the left then they are abandoning Obama but I am submitting that it is nothing more then a tactic to regain the centrists and Independents.

This tactic should be exposed for exactly what it is...A LIE..

so how is it that Obama gets called every name in the book by the professional left and yet his polls do not reflect it?

Because he is what many Americans have always dreamed of! They think he will bring the step Clinton never did... near full socialism. Mostly they are afraid to admit it but what he stands for is what they OVERWHELMINGLY VOTED HIM IN FOR... a socialistic state.

He’s not doing well.

A certain segment of the population, most blacks, some Hispanics and the “intellectual” elites like university professors and media leftists, will ALWAYS support him.

Given who the centrists and Independents have proved themselves to be, all lined up waiting to be massaged as important, why is it a lie? Personally speaking, I am just as tired of the high minded moderate elite that have no spine as I am with the liberal user and abuser crowd.

I said last week that his numbers wouldn’t budge because of the Bush tax cuts fiasco.

I feel that the left has now reached a point of such abject submission to the progressive Democrats, that nothing they do will cause their base to turn on them.

It just feels to me, that they’re “all in”. Bozo could start shipping off conservatives in cattle cars to the ovens, and the liberal base wouldn’t bat an eye.

Every once in a while I run some spreadsheets on Rasmussen’s data to try to get the same understanding that you are looking for. It’s interesting to see who goes from which category to feed the other categories.

In his first six months a lot of “Approves” went to “Strongly Disapproves”. I guessed it was because Moderate Republicans wanted to give him a chance and were then pissed at what he did.

I’ll run the spreadsheets tomorrow but here is what I think is going on now. His base of “Strongly Approves” is firm. They will always answer “Strongly”. They may not mean it but that is what they say, I think.

Note though that the “Strongly Disapproves” are going down even while the other categories stay the same. Again, I’ll look at it tomorrow but their are people who don’t like his policies but just aren’t as pissed now that the Republicans are there to take the edge off his extremism.

I think they’ll go back to really disliking him if he starts enacting his ideas via regulation. He’ll be swept out of office.

“I said last week that his numbers wouldn’t budge because of the Bush tax cuts fiasco.”

I do not see where that has had anything to do with Obozo’s
approval numbers. They have stayed fairly level all year,
hanging in the 45% range.

I have contended all year that this shows just how sick
America has become.
We have a president that is a full blown Marxist, and maybe illegal, and almost half of the population still adores him.

In my opinion, the America that we grew up in no longer exist, and will continue to decline, despite the great wins in the mid terms.
America hangs in the balance, and within the next two years
we will know if it sinks or swims.
I am not at all optimistic.

Day to day numbers are insignificant in polling, look more to the long term trend over time, Obama hasn’t goneover 45%in a year, don’t get discouraged;think long term,

Friend, you've let your pessimism and the left get the best of you, if you think that the 2010 midterms weren't a clear sign that this nation's spirit is still alive and healthy. We're in the midst of an all-American resurgence that's just getting started.

Buck up. We've got a rough road ahead, but we're going to be alright.
