Obama’s job approval rating hits a new low

Is President Obama in serious danger of losing re-election in 2012?

A new McClatchy/Marist Poll released over the weekend found Obama's job approval rating at just 42 percent — the lowest number of his presidency. One reason Obama's numbers have taken a turn for the worse: The president has lost ground with Democrats in recent weeks.

According to the poll, 74 percent of Democrats approve of the job Obama is doing — a sign that he remains enormously popular with his base. But that number is down nearly 9 percentage points since November, according to McClatchy. Meanwhile his disapproval rating nearly doubled, moving from 11 percent to 21 percent in the last month.

Among self-described liberals, his approval rating has dropped from 78 percent to 69 percent since November.

At the same time, his standing among independent voters — the group that propelled him to the White House in '08 — remained dismal. Just 39 percent of independents approve of Obama's job performance, compared with 50 percent who disapprove. That's down more than 20 points since Obama was elected.

Much too close to 50%. There's plenty of time to turn the numbers around before 2012.

If Mitt is the nominee, many will stay home. If it's Sarah, many will stay home. If it's Huckabee, O wins in a landslide.

Approx. 20% of the country is hardcore lib and he will pick up another 9-10% because he gets 90% of African-Americans.

Take that 30% or so and throw in a few extra points for some weenie ‘independents’ and it will be hard for him to go below about 38% in my calculations.

Bush had no support from the African-American community so his basic numbers easily got down below 30%. I don’t think that will ever happen to BO.

During the Revolutionary times most people were loyalists or didn’t give a damn. A determined minority willing to risk all can do much. Read history. The only poll that matters if push comes to shove in the long term is no poll.

I am shocked that his popularity ratings are that high. Blacks are going to support regardless of what he says or does. Obama could become the Grand Wizard of the KKK, and blacks would still vote for him. The welfare addicts and the felons will support him. I hope that is not 40 percent of the voters.

I hope some eyes are opened by the screeching denunciations of Obama coming from the hard Left. All this hate for Obama is because of the mere proposal that SOMEBODY ELSE’S TAXES NOT GO UP FOR ANOTHER TWO YEARS.

If anybody has heretofore missed the fact that the Left is driven by hate and envy and little else, perhaps this will enlighten him.

I think just the opposite. I think if we have a terrorist attack, most smart people with common sense will think he brought it on himself. Before he got himself elected, he promised the world would love us more because he will be president. After he got elected, just the opposite happened. He is just as hated as any other president prior to him. No matter what race, religion, etc.... the Muslim world, in it's third world thinking, will always hate us. And then you have the demented shrimp in North
Korea who is a puppet for China. IMO, by March, he will reignite the war in South Korea and every country in the world will pick sides and we will be in the middle of WWIII. That will give Zero the opportunity to cancel all elections and become a dictator. Of course, this is just my humble opinion.

You are absolutely right in your calculation. African Americans have total faith in Obama. Even J.C. Watts hinted that he was voting for Obama.
