Environmentalists hate sprawl except when it comes to the size of their expansive pet legislation on Capitol Hill.
In a last-ditch lame duck push, eco-lobbyists have been furiously pressuring Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., to pass a monstrous 327-page omnibus government lands bill crammed with more than 120 separate measures to lock up vast swaths of wilderness areas. Despite the time crunch, Senate Democrats in search of 60 votes are working behind the scenes to buy off green Republicans. House Democrats would then need a two-thirds majority to fast-track the bill to the White House before the GOP takes over on Jan. 5.
Yes, the hurdles are high. But with Reid and company now vowing to work straight through Christmas into the new year (when politicians know Americans are preoccupied with the holidays), anything is possible. The Constitution is no obstacle to these power grabbers. Neither is a ticking clock.

Perhaps I'm wrong, especially in light of the massive vote-buying machine that exists for every elected Congressional member... they spend NINETY PERCENT OF THEIR TIME ON CONSTITUENT SERVICES (i.e., pulling government bulldogs off their backs - virtually guaranteeing re-election.)
U.N. Agenda 21 - reporting for duty!
Laz - methinks that until the newly elected can get on-board the ‘jambdowns’ will continue to the last possible second... meaning, of course, that the remaining RINO’s love it too much to do a damned thing about it... other than open their mouths to slurp up the lard.
The ONLY example I can recall was the seatbelt interlock law.
As soon as congress learned the auto makers were not building models exempting congress members from the edict, the edict was repealed.
A few other things have expired due to “Sunset” clauses.
I do not include Alcohol Prohibition as it took a constitutional amendment to amend.

Wish we had 10 million like that - horsed, armed and charging up and down the halls of congress, and up and down the street of DC until 95 percent of the population had been driven completely and permanently out of town.
I think more than half the US military would join in... without being asked to assist.
The remaining 5% would be enough to man Congress and eliminate the rest of the thieving government - first on the chopping-block, the IRS - then all other federal agencies (with the sole exception of the Border Patrol) to follow within hours.
Ah... well, It's fun to dream...
Toooo many have forgotten, or didn't care to begin with.
Ah - meant to highlight this too:
House Rep. Doc Hastings, R-Wash., rightly dubbed it a "Frankenstein omnibus of bills" and pointed out that the legislation "includes dozens of bills that have never passed a single committee, either chamber of Congress, or even been the subject of a hearing."
Dirty bastard leftists care nothing about the rules - they break them daily, with no oversight by media whatsoever - other than cheering them on at every opportunity.
I called about 15 congressmen's offices back in 2006 to ask what they planned to do in the weeks after the election. Every one of the people I got on the phone said, in so many words, nothing. I was so frustrated with the give-up Republicans. What a difference now.
I'll bet no outgoing Dem is giving up his office space until January.
“I still think that Reid lost the election - but fraud saved it for him.”
That’s precisely what I think also.
I’ll bet no outgoing Dem is giving up his office space until January.

The ol’ “But That’s Different” reaction. I wonder how many of the newly elected Republicans are hiring superannuated staff of defeated democrats? They did a lot of that in the 1994 change of party majority in the House of Representatives.
