Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) adopted the role of Ebenezer Scrooge and scheduled the Senate to work through the Christmas holiday.
Two Republicans - Jon Kyl of Arizona and Jim DeMint of South Carolina - objected, and that became political fodder for Reid, proving that nothing is off limits if a political point can be made.
Reid then took to the floor of the Senate to blast the GOP.
“I don’t need to hear the sanctimonious lectures of Sens. Kyl and DeMint to remind me of what Christmas means,” he said Wednesday afternoon.
He also blamed Republicans - who have a clear minority - for making the Senate work through the holiday. "If they decide to work with us, we can have a happy holiday," he said. Translated: "If Republicans just cave in to us, we can get out of here."
The Hill reported that on Tuesday, Jon Kyl suggested the Majority Leader "...would be on the verge of “disrespecting one of the two holiest days for Christians” by pushing the Senate to work on the omnibus spending bill and the New START nuclear treaty..." right up until Christmas Day.
Reid shot back, "It's offensive to me and millions of working Americans for any senator to suggest that working through the Christmas holiday is sacrilegious or disrespectful."
But the reality is that ol' Ebenezer knows that come January 3, the Democrats' reign of terror will end in the House when the Republicans officially start the new session, and the Democrats will have a much slimmer majority in the Senate.

Today is December 16 and whatever mean-ness and theft the Democrats have planned is already in play, so this one doesn't count. That leaves 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 1, 2 ~ which is: 17 days
I thought it was the 5th or 6th of January, this year?
Then, when they get in the air CANCEL THE TRIP and dump 'em all out!

WHICH MEANS they could set their meeting date for Monday, January 4, 2011, but the TERMS end at noon on the 3rd of January.
Technically we could be without a Congress for a few hours but that holds no terror for me!

The media belongs to satan... he has demons playing republicans to further his domain. I can tell you one thing... abc played cornyn in a press conference last night, where he was screaming about how bad earmarks are... then they asked him how he could justify his stance when he himself has over 30 earmarks in the bill... he mumbled something about the process being flawed and that he was not going to vote for it... they asked him to answer again... he mumbled he had tried to answer it... and then like a coward... he ran from the podium. He knows it will pass... he voted for it before he was against it... and he will get his pork... they are all just like kerry... almost all of them anyway.

Take just one example , Scott Brown.
Most of you here hate Scott Brown and call him a RINO. You would rather have the pro-Amnesty democrat had won over Republican Senator Scott Brown.But none of you even know that Scott Brown is against Amnesty and the Dream act and will vote against the Dream act. If this Amnesty is stopped then it will be Republicans and Republican Scott Brown who stop this. This is the only bill that matters . The new Republican House can undo most of what the democrats are passing now except this Amnesty for illegals called the Dream act. If illegals are not stopped the U.S. is done and no conservative will ever get elected : Refute that you democrat sympathizer.

Warn any Republican dissenters, like Moocowski, Snowe, or Collins that the party will actively campaign against them in their next reelection attempt.
If the dissenters press on and ruin the filibuster, then use every delaying tactic in the rules to draw this lame duck ABOMINATION to a close. Force the reading of every last stinking word in every last stinking bill!!! You have my sympathy if it costs you Christmas with your families, BUT C’MON. This is NATION WREAKING madness going on!
