Larry King's last "Larry King Live" show was a nonstop promenade of high-profile names and faces Thursday, including a current and a former president, a gaggle of news anchors and the like, King's wife and kids, and Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger declaring it "Larry King Day." Tony Bennett serenaded the host with "The Best Is Yet to Come." King himself even thanked "the suits at the top."
But the standout, perhaps, was Katie Couric. Who wrote a poem. For Larry.
And read it, out loud.
All of it.
On purpose.
The text of the poem -- "filled with love" from Couric and senior "LKL" producer Wendy Walker, and delivered after President Obama's appearance and before former President Clinton's adieu and policy speech -- follows. Let's just say, Clement Clark Moore and Dr. Seuss needn't worry.

I have to do "something" to get her..., um, remove her voice, from
my ears.
I hope the advertisers that follow her spot get their monies' worth
from me changing the station, changing the media, or just
turning off the radio.
Any way, last night, I forgot to act on her spot, and listened to part
of her overly sycophantic praise for a guy that probably didn't
have very many viewers from that particular audience.
(It used to be worse. The station once carried Jim Hightower's
disingenuous baying at the same time as the Perky One's.)
They’re sad because now how are they going to go to sleep at night? They can’t just pop Larry King on and zonk out after 5 minutes.
Just keep a tape or CD or mp3 file of Rush ready to pop in when that happens.
Huffington’s voice is the one that gets to my ears!
From that sampling, I ascertained that further viewing would be unnecessary.
There once was a host oh so perky
Her tv delivery quite quirky
on Larry King Live
her poem did jive
But in real life she’s simply too jerky.
Left a mark??!!
Maybe a skid mark but nothing more from that shrew’s mouth.
