How to spread advice without causing alarm?

The first thing I would do is talk to Americans like they are adults instead of talking down to them like they are a bunch of helpless children. Tell it like it is. We can handle it.

Well, I know Obama wouldn’t want to inconvenience himself by telling people how to save their lives, but the MSM seems to be getting this story out in spite of themselves.

“Gee. How can The One tell people that they should stay inside to avoid radiation instead of dying by the millions, without upsetting more voters? I wonder. I wonder.”

“Suppose the unthinkable happened, and terrorists struck New York or another big city with an atom bomb. What should people there do?”

What SHOULD they do? Will it matter? Won’t they be dead?

Crawling in the “Way Back Machine”, the first 36 hours, or so, are crucial for those that are down wind of the blast area, IIRC. That’s when most of the radioactive particulates are falling out of the air. That’s the stuff that will kill you quickest, beyond the actual blast and immediate effects. You breath it in and it poisons you from the inside out. Staying put, and making your area as airtight, or even better positive pressurized with filtered air, increases short term survival rates dramatically. Once the initial danger has passed, you evacuate the area perpendicular to the fall out path, so you are not in the danger zone any longer than need be.

Hmm, paying attention in all those NBC classes may payoff, after all :-)

Only liberals in la-la land (like the naive obama and his Harvard generals) consider this scenario “unthinkable”. I really think these people are blase because if they are wrong, they believe in their hearts that America has it coming, anyway. “Chickens coming home to roost” as Jeremiah Wright said about 9-11.

al Qaeda at least is honest in its brutal statements they intend to use WMD when they can. We have been lucky intercepting and stopping WMD plotters busy at work on it... so far.

What they really mean: Gather in nice small groups in enclosed areas so you’ll be easier to control...

The REAL strategy for a nuclear attack on US soil:

1) Accept the fact YOU ARE OWN YOUR OWN

2) they’ll be NO government agencies

3) LEO will be taking care of their own families

4) Hospitals will be over burdened

5) Chaos will reign

I guess this is part of the 0-boy’s theory we could “absorb” a cataclysmic terror attack. And our national enemies can take heart because he has foresworn the use of nukes under any circumstance, even in retaliation.

These are great, heady days for the enemies of America.

Or better yet leave obvious targets now and move to flyover country. Why live like a lemming?

Administration's problem: How to spread advice without causing alarm? Suppose the unthinkable happened, and terrorists struck New York or another big city with an atom bomb. What should people there do?

The ones that don't die outright can start repenting for voting Democrat and thus enabling the attack.

The History Channel had a long program (I think it was 3 hours long—I taped it) about a hypothetical nuclear attack on DC. Except for the headache-inducing quick-editing for morons, it was a pretty good program.

The analysis offered that the chaos caused by such an event would be unmanageable, and that everyone could only do their best. The effects of multiple attacks are best left unimagined.

Perhaps those advisng Dear Leader are beginning to realize that our national security measures have been crippled by political correctness. Dear Leader says we can “absorb” an attack, which means he’d rather see a city bombed than risking alienating his far left base, so that’s what he’s preparing us for.

‘Administration’s problem: How to spread advice without causing alarm?’

Give me break already! They could care less about the Little People. This has everything to do w/ saving face and keeping (and increasing) control. The fed govt is failing and no one wants to say it out loud. So what do they do for an encore to failure? They tell use the next ‘fix’ is in the works and trust them b/c it’ll all be better. I’m just not buying it anymore.

I’m going to crawl under my desk for safety like the public schools taught me in 6th grade back in 1972. My alternative plan is to look for the fall out shelter signs and go there for safety.

didn’t Obama say we could absorb a nuke attack on a city??

If that is true, it must be a very very liberal city. /sarc

Assuming the terrorists get their bomb from North Korea it would be quite survivable for people a ways away from ground zero. A Hiroshima size bomb would have less impact on a concrete and brick city than it did on Japanese construction. If the Russians supplied a larger yield bomb, the kill zone would be much larger but the drill for survivors would be the same.
