John McCain, R-Ariz., who opposes the amendment to repeal the military's 17-year-old ban on openly gay troops, Friday, Dec. 10, 2010, during a rally on Capitol Hill in Washington. (AP) WASHINGTON -- After two failed attempts, Congress appears poised to repeal the Clinton-era ban on gays serving openly in the military, with Senate set for a historic vote that could seal a major triumph for President Obama, liberals and the gay community.

I mourn for the past America. Obama’s fundamental transformation is almost complete.

Of course now he and his Obamamedia goes about ‘appearing’ centrist, so he can get re elected !

Evil does have a face.

I hope the Commandant of the Marine Corps, and Chiefs of Staff of the Army and Air Force take retirement now to show their contempt for their political masters. Those masters hate the military and the miltary should hate them in return. As for the five Republicans who voted Yes, both Maine senator, Voinivich, Scott Brown and Obama’s replacement, your day is coming soon.

Kabuki Theater....

Obama clearly traded Homosexualization of the military for DREAM, which Dems can keep as a campaign issue, for the Tax cuts.

And it keeps his whacko base in line. This is the biggy for them.

(WP report from the Republican 2006 LAME-duck...compare and contrast)

***

Congress will convene on Tuesday for what some fear will be the lamest of lame-duck sessions, and GOP leaders have decided to take a minimalist approach before turning over the reins of power to the Democrats. Rather than a final surge of legislative activity, Congress will probably wrap up things after a single, short week of work. They have even decided to punt decisions on annual government spending measures to the Democrats next year.

“There is a lot of battle fatigue among members, probably on both sides of the aisle,” said Rep. Mike Pence (R-Ind.), usually a reliable conservative firebrand. “Contrary to popular belief, members of Congress are human beings. They have a certain shelf life and a certain amount of energy to be drawn on. We’re tired.”

Anguished over the Democrats’ victory on Nov. 7 and the tumult that has followed, GOP lawmakers want to get out of town. One senior Senate Republican aide called hopes for substantive legislation “delusional.”

Much of the problem is as prosaic as office space, GOP aides said. Lawmakers were forced to vacate their offices on Friday, and few of them want to hang around Washington with no place to sit. Retiring House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Bill Thomas (R-Calif.) got angry during a meeting of committee chairmen, demanding to know how he was supposed to complete work on the business tax extension bill without an office, according to one GOP aide present in the meeting.

Absolutely right. McConnell screwed this lame duck session up big time. The result:

Hispanics pissed at GOP over DREAM
Gays and lefties placated and back in the Dem fold because of DADT
Moderates mostly happy about “Obama’s tax compromise”

How the stupid party could manage to turn November’s big win into this cluster is beyond me. I’m going to go cry for a while.

Then they will have to fight those civilians, many of whom are military veterans, and many of those will be ones who got out of the military because of this horrendous bill.

They are not stupid. They are accomplices.

The two major parties are at most rival teams working within the same franchise. They are not enemies, and they both feed at the same trough. Their basic self interests are identical.

I have never understood why gays INSIST on the whole world knowing they’re gay. When this idiot reform gets passed, I suspect there will be several gays getting beat up by groups of straights. Just let one of them make an overture to a straight person and all hell will break loose. I really think it will cause more problems than it solves.

Just my own thoughts.

“When do we start talking secession...”

It is already under way in some quarters. I don’t think it has legs personally. I think the United States will dissolve one day in the next few years in a similar manner and for similar reasons as the Soviet Union did.

It will NOT be reconstituted. Some regions will go their own way.

I think Murkowski also voted yes.

On the positive side, today was probably the last day of relevance for Snow, Collins, and Brown. With the alignment of the new Senate, republicans will not need them to sustain a filibuster and the democrats will not be able to use them to invoke cloture. They will have no value to either party and no record of loyalty to fall back on. They will be allowed to labor in obscurity without the ability to deliver special favors to the voters of their states.

“Watch for return of compulsory draft.”

The United States will never have a compulsory draft again. People will remember the mass pardon of the dodgers back in the 1970s, and the government will be a lot more accountable about where it sends troops if they are not 100% volunteers. The volunteer military let them send people into situations that most European governments (and populations), which until recently had compulsory service, would have never tolerated. What many Americans regarded as European cowardliness in terms of military action was actually caused by the fact that most of Europe had such requirements until the last ten or twenty years, and the European people wouldn’t tolerate having those lives pissed away lightly.

In a “good” job market, the result of this would be that we’d be seeing mass exodus from the enlisted ranks when their current tours are up. Of course, I think many will not care about civilian job prospects and get out anyway.

Oh, and good luck with recruitment in the future.

Let’s bring back the draft. Here’s hoping those that supported the repeal and/or their kids are the ones drafted.

Unfortunately, I think that was the plan all along, so that they can then brainwash a whole new generation of fly-over country hicks (clinging to their guns and religion) on the normal and natural behavior of fudge packing. I don't want my son drafted into a gay pride platoon and be nervous about the fag in the next bunk.

Marine Commandant General James Amos has stated several times that openly practicing homosexualism will kill Marines.

Any senator voting in support of DADT is knowingly and quite purposefully destroying and weakening America's military and is willfully contributing to the murder of Marines.

Names and States of any senator which vote in support of legislation to repeal DADT should be make public.

The harvesting of the nations youth begins. Any opposition will be quickly crushed. A military composed of aliens and homosexuals will have no problem firing on normal Americans.

As an aside, now that California is totally under leftist control look for your children to be harvested. The Attorney General Office will simply not prosecute homosexual boy lovers. I'm glad my children are grown.

” I have never understood why gays INSIST on the whole world knowing they’re gay. “

Me neither.
I don’t want to know the particulars of anyone’s private sexual behavior..period.
In fact, please don’t volunteer any information.
Maybe it’s generational thing, but, I don’t recall ever having a conversation with anyone-friend, family member , acquaintance ,
co worker or neighbor that involved their bedroom activities.
Or lack thereof.
It’s my own personal version of DADT.
And isn’t one of the mantras of the left vis a vis abortion-
that everyone should stay out of their bedroom ???
Except if you’re gay , apparently-now we’re all invited in.
It’s absolutely unconscionable that Barry, the Democrats
and a few lunatic Republicans should pick this time
to cause disruption for
the men and women who are fighting and dying In Iraq and Afghanistan .
Here’s what they should be focusing on :

A mint worker finds a way to get in to the mint after closing and with his gang of misfits prints off millions of dollars for themselves.
Whe the sun starts to come up they want to leave but Milton Berle wants to keep printing! “WHO KNOWS WHEN WE WILL EVER GET IN HERE AGAIN”! he says.

The dems are desperate to do as much damage to this nation with their majorities in congress and a dem president. WHO KNOWS WHEN THEY WILL EVER GET IN HERE AGAIN!

She did vote for cloture. Scott Brown is done, he wont get a nickle from out of state Republicans like he did before and the democrats in Mass will tear him up. Good riddance. Meanwhile, Maine just took a sharp turn to the right only leaving behind their congressional delegation. Good riddance to which ever Senator is up for reelection in 2012.
