This is a surprise? Brown is doing what he believes he needs to do to get reelected. Voting "Yes" may work against him in the Republican primary but he's obviously calculated that it will cause him less trouble than voting "No" on this issue would in the main election, and I suspect he's right.

He did not win by that much in Jan 2010. He will need that 25 % plus base support in 2012. Gays are very very vocal group in Mass with the MSLM gay Boston Globe support. The Mass Supreme Court has a new non gay Chief Justice. Mass will have Two Demo Rats Senators in 2012. Not a RINO and a Demo Rat.
