I don’t think they’re liars. They just have an emotional investment that demands a fixed outcome, and they don’t have enough self awareness to come to grips with that.

Lawyers see that sort of thing semi-regularly. One of our jobs is to help people work through it so they can actually attend to their own legal best interests.

When even the liberal/Marxist comedians are hammering Obama’s natural born eligibility, Obama no longer has a legal problem.

Well, tired_old_conservative lawyer, tell me if you can why Speaker Boehner should not take ten or fifteen minutes out of his day sometime in January and order that a House committee subpoena the relevant documents so that these questions can be resolved once and for all. What legal hazards do you foresee in such a course?

Help me work through that.

There are no legal hazards in such a course. Boehner can certainly do that if he chooses. I'm fine with it if he does, but I can tell you that he's very unlikely to do so. So your question is why?

Without rancor, I'll just say Boehner is probably convinced that Obama is legally the President. He probably feels that's an obvious enough point that he doesn't want to expend political capital on a pointless gesture.

But by all means, write him and ask him to that. You're allowed to do so in this country.

In fairness, you should disclose that no one at that hospital can recall Obama’s supposed birth there. And, you should disclose that Obama can’t remember it, either.

Thus, the documents are needed.

I doubt that there are many people who were working there 49 years ago to remember any particular baby’s birth.
Documents are not needed because there is no constitutional requirement that a president of the United States be born in a hospital, otherwise George Washington would have been ineligible.
If Obama was born on a beach in Hawaii and delivered by a mid-wife, he’d still be born in the USA.
His birth documents, corroborated by the Registrar of Vital Statistics of the state of Hawai’i, the Governor of Hawai’i and the Director of Health of Hawai’i say that he was born in that state at 7:24 p.m. on August 4, 1961.
Obama is the ONLY president for whom I know the exact time of his birth.
The ONLY Consititutional requirements for a president are: Born in the United States, 35 years of age and 14 years residency in the United States.

Well, thank you for your explanation. I think Speaker Boehner ought to do just that at the first opportunity. Questions have been raised, questions concerning whether or not our political leaders have properly complied with the terms of the document that provides the framework for all that they have been entrusted to do. Such questions are worth a few minutes of their time. If a subpoena will resolve these questions in favor of the president, it's worth a few minutes of the Speaker's time. If a subpoena will reveal fundamental problems with our president's eligibility, then clearly the few minutes is a worthwhile investment.

And, thank you for sharing that you would be fine with the new Speaker making that effort to resolve these questions.

Now, now...you shouldn’t put words in other people’s mouths.
Kapiolani’s Centennial Magazine - 100 Years of Caring for Children
Nearly half of Oahu’s babies are born at Kapi‘olani. Many public figures, civic and business leaders can claim (an interesting usage there, to be sure) their birthplace here. In fact, our 44th President Barack Obama commended “the excellence of Kapi‘olani Medical Center—the place of my birth.” He added, “Hawaii has always been a home to me.” (see p.6).
The hospital did not say he was one of their deliveries in their Centennial Magazine as anyone can see from looking at the link I’ve provided.
Even the image of the letter on page six isn’t from the hospital!

Kapli’olani published a letter from Obama on the first page of their centennial magazine naming that hospital as “the place of my birth.”

Patriot Lt.Col. Lakin pledge an OATH to the CONSTITUTION, and through this Kangaroo and shameless court he was...N O T...N O T...N O T...granted his rights, while you still are pissing on it!!!

Lieutenant Colonel Lakin, the patriot, pleaded guilty to four of the five specifications against him and he told the judge on about 15 separate occasions that he knew his orders were lawful.

Thank you for reminding me about the residency requirement. Does he have proof of residency, maybe some utility bills and such? ;-)

The documents regarding birth are important because I don't think there is anyone alive with personal knowledge of the birth. No one. Obama himself knows only what he's been told by others and by documents he may have seen.

So, documents are the key. An adequate subpoena could be prepared in a few minutes.

I spoke the truth. I guess that makes you the “GD liar”.

Two sentences, two more lies.

You're a real piece of work.

So, do you give it away, or do they pay you?

You mean, I told the truth again and you still lied.

Look, let me help you out a bit here. What a rational person does when they want to express disagreement is, they explain what it is they disagree with and why. A rational person doesn’t just lash out and yell “liar” without providing the slightest bit of substance. Just a tip, in case you really do care about not looking like a nut.

I have yet to see you print a single sentence that isn't in flagrant conflict with the truth.

You are a liar, and a very poor one.

Where is the "birth certificate that Obama released during the campaign"?

Nowhere, as you know. What was released via a website was a very questionable scanned image of a Certification of Live Birth. No doctor, no hospital, no footprint, nothing.

But of course, you know this. That's why you are a liar, instead of just an ignorant shill.

So again, when someone lies so brazenly about facts which are so easily proven contrary to one's assertions, I have to question the motivation.

Are you an Obama slut doing it for free, or an Obama whore and getting paid?

Obama’s former chief of staff did what Obama never would do ... he provided piles of personal documents to try to prove his eligibility for the mayoral race in Illinois ... INCLUDING a birth certificate. Why is Obama such a coward?? If it doesn’t take too long, President Boehner could pardon Lakin after Obama is given his walking papers. Then he’ll finally have a set of real papers.

The sheer irony of the the situation is simply unbelievable.

I’m hoping that President Obama will pardon Lieutenant Colonel Lakin. He seems like a good guy who just got a bit carried away with no malicious intent. Lakin has already apologized for his bad judgement.

I don't understand the calls for Obama to pardon Lakin in any way, shape or form.

Since LTC Lakin and many of his supporters seems to be saying that Lakin did the right thing in inviting his own court martial (because he/they believe Obama doesn't qualify as POTUS and that Lakin had a right to demand proof), why in the world would they want Obama to pardon him?

How could the very person they call a "usurper" be qualified to issue a pardon?

Former Lieutenant Colonel Lakin also pledged to well and faithfully perform the duties of an Officer in the United States Army. How does refusing to obey the lawful orders of three superior officers and refusing to deploy with his unit to a combat zone meet the requirements of that oath?

NS, Would you save a mans career, or just claim privacy?

Let me put it to you a different way. If you were president, would you personally do whatever was required to prove the legality of the Iraq wars to an officer who questioned it and who refused orders to go to that war as a result? Or would you let Army discipline take its course and allow them to be court martialed and imprisoned?

If Obama had any character at all then this wouldn't be an issue; he would have laid the questions about his birthplace to rest long ago. But he hasn't, for reasons of his own which escape my understanding. Having said that, the President of the United States should not be required to do anything just to get some screwball O-5 to do his duty as an officer and obey the orders of his superiors. Lakin was wrong, period. Lakin got what he deserved, period.
