Gays celebrate repeal of 'don't ask, don't tell'
Atlanta Journal-Constitution ^ | 12/18/10 | VERENA DOBNIK (AP)

Word that the world's largest military power will allow gays and lesbians to serve openly in the military brought strong and swift reaction Saturday, with supporters declaring a civil rights milestone and detractors insisting it would weaken and divide the armed forces.

***

Warren Arbury of Savannah, Ga., served in the Army for seven years, including three combat tours, before being kicked out two years ago under "don't ask, don't tell." But he said he planned to re-enlist once the policy is officially abolished.

"As soon as they give me the go, I'm going to march into the recruiter's office," he said. "And I want retroactive pay and rank."

Arbury said a fight for other social changes — such as allowing gays to marry and easing obstacles they face in adopting and raising children — still lies ahead, however.

"I think it's one step in a very long process of becoming an equal rights citizen," he said. "Even though this is really huge, I look at it as a chink in a very, very long chain."

Unfortunately this is about forced acceptance.

One of my childhood friends is gay and he doesn’t buy into the gay agenda the way so many heterosexuals do.

Very pathetic ! The best thing is there should be segregation where all the mud-packers are put together in units and those units are the first to go to the front lines ! Come out of the closet, you are transferred to the special gay units.

Your right and it wouldn't be the first time. They will force commanders to crack down on dissenters and mark your efficiency reports accordingly.

And why, pray tell, would they let someone back in who flouted military rules in place at the time? Obviously this person couldn’t hack the program, so why would he think he should be let back in? It’s tough to get in the military these days—they are even accessing juvenile records. Why do these people think they have a right to serve when they blew it and proved they couldn’t follow the rules the first time?

If they let these people back in we have no hope. I wonder what the Oath Keepers’ take is on this.

I think I’m going insane.

This madness will forever be owned by Obama, Pelosi and Reid, along with the Progressives.

Meanwhile, a whole lot more voter at home just got a little wiser to the reality of their agenda.

2012, here we come.

So that’s it, huh??? It’s just “they have feelings, too?”. You don’t think this policy is damaging to our servicemen in any way???

What a relativistic view. Unbelievable.

At the Legion today. After three terms (Marine) ex soccer player of mine said, "They just made my decision today".

Accepted a civilian job offer on the spot today.

Used a strange term I never heard.
He said it will be "Yes Stir" instead of "Yes Sir".

In The Navy Lyrics
Artist(Band):Village People
Review The Song (14) Print the Lyrics

In the navy
Yes, you can sail the seven seas
In the navy
Yes, you can put your mind at ease
In the navy
Come on now, people, make a stand
In the navy, in the navy
Can’t you see we need a hand
In the navy
Come on, protect the motherland
In the navy
Come on and join your fellow man
In the navy
Come on people, and make a stand
In the navy, in the navy, in the navy (in the navy)

I thought the majority were victims of molestation. That’s my experience with homosexuals.

Each and every one of my homosexual friends had been molested and were coping with that.

This is not about what they ARE — I agree they have no choice in this. It’s about what they CHOOSE TO DO.

Nobody is fool enough to think that gays have not served honorably in the service. And for that, we owe them a debt of thanks.

Unlike some on FR, I do not think they will be jumping normal men in the showers or whatever. But, there will be liaisons and affairs; and, especially when the participants have a difference in rank, or access to classified information (think Bradley Manning), serious problems will ensue.

This is about flaunting their sexuality and using the rules to game the system.

So, will they now storm the recruiting stations demanding to be let in so they can go prove themselves in Afghanistan?

Wonder how many will pick up “dancing boys” while ther?

I don’t know too many gay people but the few I do know will tell you that being gay is not a choice for them. They knew around the age of 12 that they were different. One of them, a devout Christian told me that he prayed to God every day from the age of 12 for God to “cure” him. Whatever anyone’s feelings of homosexuality are, for someone to be willing to risk his/her life to protect my freedoms speaks to their amazing character. They are human beings with feelings just like you and I. I am thankful for anyone who enlists to protect my freedom.

Cool story bro. Ted Bundy also prayed to God so the his urge to kill would be quenched. God's answer is simply do you love your behavior more than me. Again, thanks for your cool story.

They will simply monitor promotions until the gays have an acceptable % of leadership. Once they are in power they will promote more and more of them because they cannot be objective. Their sexual orientation is what they are at their core. They destroy churches now the military. Christians will simply vote with their feet.
