Gays celebrate repeal of 'don't ask, don't tell'
Atlanta Journal-Constitution ^ | 12/18/10 | VERENA DOBNIK (AP)

Word that the world's largest military power will allow gays and lesbians to serve openly in the military brought strong and swift reaction Saturday, with supporters declaring a civil rights milestone and detractors insisting it would weaken and divide the armed forces.

***

Warren Arbury of Savannah, Ga., served in the Army for seven years, including three combat tours, before being kicked out two years ago under "don't ask, don't tell." But he said he planned to re-enlist once the policy is officially abolished.

"As soon as they give me the go, I'm going to march into the recruiter's office," he said. "And I want retroactive pay and rank."

Arbury said a fight for other social changes — such as allowing gays to marry and easing obstacles they face in adopting and raising children — still lies ahead, however.

"I think it's one step in a very long process of becoming an equal rights citizen," he said. "Even though this is really huge, I look at it as a chink in a very, very long chain."

To start with, homos were able to enlist under DADT. What they couldn’t do was shove their sexual preference down other people’s throat. This whole thing is about making gays “better than”, not equal too, other military personnel.

They always find the most normal ones and front those. The reality is that homosexuality is a negative and depressing lifestyle.

You have few true friends and every day life is like the movie Mean Girls.

Lets see here now... The constitution doesn’t mean anything, the USMCJ has been overruled by federal judges, and Sharia Law is being forced upon the populace from all angles.

So what does Sharia law have to say about what should happen to Homosexuals?

If muslims in the army apply their Sharia law to uncomfortable showering situations, who will stand up for gay rights then?

I wonder how muslims feel about this repeal of DADT?

Why weren’t they consulted?

They are not gays. They are homosexuals. Perverts. There is nothing “gay” about a lifestyle that is a perversion and leads to sickness and death.
It is time that America grows up and stops this childish pc nonsense that is destroy the fabric of our civilization.

That’s why they did it. They want to destroy society and 8 Republicans and the coven of Democrats just gave them the tool.

I don’t think people choose to be homosexual, and I certainly think the feelings of homosexual people should be respected. But I also don’t think people choose to be blind, and I think the feelings of blind people should be respected. HOWEVER, that doesn’t mean I favor giving blind people drivers licenses to avoid hurting their feelings. For much the same reason, I don’t favor giving gay guys marriage licenses and adoption privileges to avoid hurting their feelings.

And what might that reason be? Both of those options hold great potential for harm. In the case of people driving blind, the harm could be confined to a few traffic deaths. But a revolutionary change in marriage and family life could well destroy the fabric of our society.

You might say that you’re talking only about people of such great character that they would risk their lives to protect your freedom. That was the rhetoric you used. It will also be the rhetoric Mr. Arbury and company use when they demand that our marriage and adoption laws be overturned. In fact, that is his exact POINT. You are the one blathering about how he just wants to re-enlist for some other purpose.

Very well said!

People seem to forget that DADT didn’t ban queers from the military, it just preve Ted them from flaunted their perversion. Now, they’re free to make everyone their little bitches which they ram their “lifestyle” up your ass.

Wake up, all you relativistic dummies. John Stossel did a show on Fox News last night about the unintended consequence of such “affirmative-action” type policies. This isn’t leveling the field for anyone, its screwing us all!

I agree that gays are without sin, for their INCLINATIONS, although not for their acts. And some may well fight valiently for the USA. But, like Gresham’s law for money, the gays will drive the heteros OUT of the military, over time. AND, in the gay military world, remember no draft is legally permissable! You can’t pack heteros into THAT environment! Why not draft females into cadres of rapists?

My point was they anyone, gay or straight who chooses to fight for my freedom is appreciated. I pray that allowing them to serve this country will not hinder or hurt in anyway. I know lots of service men and women who are okay with it and some who are not.

EXCERPT

A few moments earlier, Warren Arbury stood over the same table of tattered scraps of uniforms and shook his head.

His hand drifted up to the Army-issued soft cap - the last thing he has from his military days, aside from his dress uniform.

He contemplated tossing it into the pile, but didn’t.

“It’s weird, getting sentimental over something you once hated,” Arbury said.

“I don’t know too many gay people but the few I do know will tell you that being gay is not a choice for them. “

I have known very closely two people who said the same thing, that they just felt different from a young age.

Both were Christians and really struggled with the whole gay thing. They both went to ‘reparative’ type counseling (but not together) and over time one turned back straight and the other did not.

There is more to ‘I have always felt different’ than just that claim. This is a complicated issue and can’t be just tied up in that neat little box.

I hope that doesn’t happen and I agree with you. There’s so much hate on FR that I’m not sure I want to be on here anymore. It just strikes me as odd that enlisted service men and women are fighting for many of our freedoms including letting people say ugly things about them.

Please read the excerpt I provided VERY CAREFULLY. You will notice that what Arbury says—in so many words—he is fighting for: SOCIAL CHANGES. What changes might those be? Gay marriage and adoption privileges. Is that the sort of “freedom” you appreciate people fighting for???

These homosexuals are just pawns - “useful idiots” - being used by people who have a much larger agenda which is to bring down the US. They don’t give a whit about these folks’ “rights” or any of that other crap.
