The FCC's Threat to Internet Freedom
Wall Street Journal ^ | 12/19/10 | Robert M. McDowell

Tomorrow morning the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) will mark the winter solstice by taking an unprecedented step to expand government's reach into the Internet by attempting to regulate its inner workings. In doing so, the agency will circumvent Congress and disregard a recent court ruling. How did the FCC get here? For years, proponents of so-called "net neutrality" have been calling for strong regulation of broadband "on-ramps" to the Internet, like those provided by your local cable or phone companies. Rules are needed, the argument goes, to ensure that the Internet remains open and free, and to discourage broadband providers

There was a time the FCC was relevant—when the airwaves needed to be allocated to avoid interference. Soon, few will listen to radio over the airwaves at home or office. Why would they when the transmissions come in crystal clear over the Internet? Ditto everything else. No more hassling talk shows over language when they can opt out to satellite rebroadcast.

But in order for BO style socialism to take hold, shrill criticism must be reigned in, and that is what the king, through his minions, seeks to do.

Maybe. But I think they want to shut down the major players first. Fox, Rush, Hannity, Levin, Laura, and Medved. We are small potatoes compared to their huge audience.

When we said “free speech”, we don’t mean for people who dare disagree with us.

Now pay your taxes we need raises. :)

. . . . Also found this, dated Sunday, December 19, 2010:

FCC Can’t Force Net Neutrality, Court Rules

A federal appeals court struck a blow against the desire of the Federal Communications Commission to enforce net neutrality rules on the Internet, ruling the FCC must first get Congress to approve such a sweeping expansion of its regulatory power.

In the next Congress, the GOP in the House should craft a bill that overturns whatever the FCC has in store for their control of the Internet. Make the Dems and Obama block or veto the bill so they can be put on record as reducing the freedom on the Internet.

Perhaps the worst trait of the regime is that they make rules/law as they go.

Nothing from the Jokers eligibility to whatever law they see fit to pass be it obmacare, dream act,or net neutrality is ever hindered by existing law or legislation.

This is a regime run/gone wild and the only way to ultimately stop them is vote all the bastards out from top to bottom.

Genochowski has surrounded himself with communists so why shouldn’t he act like one re freedom of the airwaves?

This man and his red minions need to be the subject of a congressional investigation and hearing.

Also his funding should be cut off.

One of the FCC commissioners is Mignon Clyburn, Congressman James Clyburn's daughter.

Mignon Clyburn had a State of South Carolina commission job when her dad was S.C Human Affairs Commissioner (for 11 years), and followed her dad to the FCC when he became a Congressman. She makes a salary of $160k plus.
