Folks, please welcome back former Congressman Duncan L. Hunter to Free Republic tomorrow (Wednesday, Dec 22) at 9:30 am PDT. It has been three long years since he last joined us for an interview. Back then, he was in the midst of vying for the GOP nomination for the presidency. Though he was and remains a rock-ribbed conservative, the GOP money and the voters chose the path of moderation, as personified in John McCain. And we know how that turned out.
This time, Hunter will not be in the running, but at just 62 years of age, and being of a restless nature when it comes to promoting conservatism as the answer to Americas problems, he is not sitting quietly in retirement either. Aside from his efforts to get new, conservative blood into to the 2010 Congress, Hunter has lately been spending time taking some wounded Marines out hunting, raising money for their cause, and offering advice to the folks back in Washington on how to duplicate the successes of the Iraq War in Afghanistan.
He has also written a terrific new book on the Iraq War that at once both explains how America was victorious, and places the spotlight on the warriors who did the heavy lifting. The book is seen here below, and Wednesdays interview will focus to some degree on the book.
But Mr. Hunter is ready and willing to stay for an hour or so and answer your follow up questions about himself, the book, the state of the nation, or anything else.
So please stop by and say hello and Merry Christmas. Also, you can say hello to his son Sam, who will be with Hunter during the interview tomorrow. Some of you may remember Sam as Duncan Hunter Ambassador here on FR back during the campaign. Sam just returned from Iraq as part of the last major combat unit, the 4th Stryker Brigade, to leave that theatre. He is currently stationed up here in sunny and warm Tacoma, WA, at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, but is home in San Diego for Christmas.
Well FR was down all night.
Back up now however duty calls and then off to sleep before next shift.
Please do buy a couple. Great read. And yeah, I picked a bad morning. It took me 45 minutes to even post that we were canceling. LOL
Oh, absolutely! One of “my guys” would love to have this book!
For sure....FR's been a total slug all day, and is just now coming back to life.
Merry Christmas, darlin’! Hope you have a nice White one!
Dang! Been baking all day, came here quickly to scan news, and didn’t log on, so I missed it!
Nope. FR was down this AM, so we canceled for later.
