Federal agents took an illegal immigrant to Grant Medical Center in October 2009 to collect proof of his ties to a Mexican-based drug ring.
During his two-day hospital stay, Jose Aranda-Mora supplied the needed evidence - 92 balloons of heroin that he had swallowed before a traffic stop in Richland County.
Three months earlier, immigration agents had deported Mora to his homeland of Mexico. But the free ride home served as no deterrent. Since 2000, Mora has been deported four times, only to return time and again - most recently to Ohio.
A Dispatch investigation revealed that it is common for deported immigrants to return to the United States despite the threat of felony charges.
In another case, Juan Jose Beltran-Coronel's fourth trip to the border with immigration agents came after he was involved in a car crash in Kansas that killed his wife and exposed him as a human smuggler.
On 16 other occasions, Beltran was caught in the U.S. illegally and left on his own, court records show.
He served 5 1/2 years in prison and was shipped back to Mexico in 2002. Within three years, he was back, living in Preble County in western Ohio.
For Antonio Galloso, deportation came in 2005. By that time, Columbus police had charged him with domestic violence twice. But Galloso sneaked back to Columbus, where he sexually assaulted a woman.
A Franklin County judge sentenced him to community control - similar to probation. But U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents got him instead, and federal prosecutors charged him with illegally re-entering the country.

Scofflaw immigrants aren't looking to become model citizens.
I know a guy that worked in the San Diego sector that picked up the same group twice in one eight hour shift. It is like playing chutes and ladders.
That’s why we should make it punishable by death if you are deported and come back. If they show their faces in our country again, BANG! Dead.
YEARS ago I saw a TV program where they were loading illegals onto a bus to drive them to the border. The illegals were all singing. The reporter asked the bus driver why they were singing. He said, “They know they’ll all be back tomorrow.” This was probably in the late ‘80s, early ‘90s, back when most of the nation was not aware of the problem, or how bad it was going to get.
Just take him out to the remotest desert no-man’s land with no supplies and let him walk home.
I’m surprised the Congressrats haven’t created a frequent flyer rewards program for crimaliens yet.
More BS from the IPC, hardly an objective source of info. The problem with these studies is that they typically put legal immigrants in the same class as illegals. Legal immigrants are highly screened, resulting in a very law-abiding group. So they offset the higher crime rates of illegals.
This is just the beginning of how data are manipulated to obscure a serious issue.
“I know a guy that worked in the San Diego sector that picked up the same group twice in one eight hour shift. It is like playing chutes and ladders.”
I talked to a Border Patrol agent who worked the same area. Sometimes the BP agents get to know the illegals on a first name basis. There was a fat, slow woman named Maria. They caught her almost every night. After a couple of weeks they did not see her again. They figured that she finally made it through.
Ship him home parcel post, the’ll start to get the hint.
Or send him in installments like those TV adverts, only a thousand easy monthly installments etc etc etc.
/ end horrible joke.
One of the most significant advances in the last couple years it electronic fingerprinting. That has kept these “otherwise law abiding Mexicans” from also using a different identity every time they get caught. That also allows screening for known criminals.
Ship ‘em off by the boatload to Tierra Del Fuego; it’s a lot longer walk back from there!
Brand them on their foreheads with a big ‘IA’.
That’ll learn’em.
And make them easier to shoo- I mean spot.
Post signs along the border, “Trespassers will be shot on sight” and “This border is MINED”.....eliminate repeat offenders permanently, and send a CLEAR message to the flood of usurpers coming to live off taxpayers.
But Big Sis says everything’s going great! /sarc

“Threat”, that’s the problem.
Needs to be a certainty.
End the empty threats, every illegal to get two weeks in jail while we check them out for more serious offenses.
Then deported.
All who sneak back in get Fed. prison time, no exceptions, then deported.
Come back again, get a LONG sentence.
Confiscate everything they have to off-set the expense.
End the fiction that birthing or being an “anchor baby” creates any form of citizenship.
We need to bring back the “Where’s the fence?” commercials.
That’s just mean.....I love it!
