[Excerpt]..Emergency? These “emergencies” have a way of working themselves out. Fans who really feel uncomfortable driving in this type of weather - and that’s their God-given right - knew the risks of snow when they bought their tickets; some would have elected to stay home and watch on TV. But most Eagles ticketholders were looking forward to this.

In fact, a lot more than usual would have come to the game by subway instead of by car. That’s one of the many reasons Philadelphia has an underground subway line - IT GETS PLACES IN THE SNOW!!! The remaining fans who did drive would have a slog, to be sure - but there’d be fewer cars on the road generally, so it might be a wash. You don’t know until you try.

Apparently the Eagles’ official No. 1 Fan agrees with me on this one. Gov. Rendell told KYW-TV last night that he also disagreed with the postponement – “This is football,” he said, “football’s played in bad weather” – and made many of the same arguments about the subway and major highways remaining open. Even worse, he said in response to a question that legendary Green Bay Packers coach Vince Lombardi would “be mocking us.” [End Excerpt]

BTW, are you from the South or something? Just wondering since few people know what walking in 2 feet of snow actually feels like down south.

I cannot speak for Track9 but as for me, I was born in Fargo ND and raised in Duluth. I noticed from your previous handle that you live in Minneapolis. Well, when I was growing up, we had a common saying amongst my friends,
"If you live South of Cloguet, you might as well live in Florida, because you don't know what cold really is."
I posted an article on Dec 15 with a comment I made to it about the Minn Chicago game that was to be played out doors at the UM stadium. I made the comment on the Star Tribune site that had the story. comment I put on the MST website, to a story about the Vikings complaining they had to play in the cold last week.

Anyway, these players make more in a year than 99% of Americans make in a lifetime, and all we ask is that they league and the players play the game when it's scheduled and quit making excuses why they cannot play. We all have to do things we don't want to do to feed our families, but we do not get the luxury to say that we make too much money to risk injury doing what we chose to do. We do it, or our families don't eat.

Bud Grant, Tarkenton, Paige, Eller, Kapp, and others paid their dues so that these overpaid whiners can make millions while complaining about the weather conditions. Play for what we pay you through our buying the product, or take your ass off the field permanently and quit trying to call yourself real men. Because real men are putting their lives on the line everyday over in Afghanistan to give you the freedom to get paid while playing a game.
