It was Rock Island IL. Check the QC Times website (will try later).
What do you think the problem is?
Liberals will find any excuse to raise taxes, but have no intention of spending the money on such trivial services such as snow removal or road maintenance.
Agree.. but that’s an excuse to raise the taxes. It’s what they do!
I think the time allowed to clear your walkway is not so much to avoid a ticket as it is to protect yourself from the “slip & fall” scam; I’ve never heard of anyone being fined for not clearing the snow from their sidewalk. On the other hand, the motivation is a pack of ne’er-do-wells descending on your little patch of snow with a camcorder and lawyer on speed-dial. We are such a litigious society...
You got that right!
Seriously, though, it started snowing in the morning. The SUV on my block got stuck, according to neighbors, between 8 and 10 pm. I was outside several times to shovel a path during the day (my hope was to make it easier the following day -- no such luck, it evened out).
Not once during the day did my block get plowed. I believe it is classified as "secondary" and it gets a fair amount of traffic usually. And I know that it was just recovered because there were no snow piles across the street from the plow, particularly in front of the hydrant.
Surprised Marion Barry didn’t stay home with all that “snow” coming down (”the b*tch set me up”). He did have a way with words, though...
I believe this is true for all states.
From some of the news clips and photos I have seen out of NYC roads were impassible even for SUVs and these idiots apparent still kept trying to send buses down them, only to get stuck and make it even harder to clear the snow.
If the snow fall was really to much to keep the roads clear enough for buses to to run they should have been shut down. The less vehicles on the road the easier to clear the snow instead of spending days digging out stuck buses that had no hope of finishing their route. Other area bus and trains shut down until conditions improved for this very reason.
