Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush is the strong favorite among Republican voters to challenge Sen. Bill Nelson (D) in 2012, a new Public Policy Polling survey shows.

Tom Jensen, director of the Democratic-leaning polling firm, said the findings — 72 percent of GOP voters chose Bush as their preferred candidate — differ from other state surveys in which voters have “no clue” whom they want to challenge the Democratic incumbent.

Now there’s an interesting thought.
Sen. Nelson is one of those career politicians who certainly needs to be vacated on the next go-around.

Please, NO!!!

I heard Mike McCalister is running for this seat.

I liked him campaigning for Governor last year. He had no money and no chance at all, but he seemed to get it, and he wasn't a known crook.

The last thing we need is another Bush on the national political scene. Of course, the "He can win" crowd, along with the party machinery are likely to select him as our next Senator. That would just be more of the same.

I have a hunch that Nelson will opt not to run and retire.

I want Jeb Bush to retire - or run as Democrat.
All things considered, the Bushes would make good Democrats - patriotic, but liberal and a bit wishy-washy.

I’m a Floriduh Republican and I sure do not want Jeb Bush.
He did a credible job a govenor BUT he is an amnesty supporter.
I’d rather a REAL conservative.
Also I believe if Jeb did run he’d win.

Electing Jeb Bush would be like re-electing Nelson

Bush is Pro-Illegal/Anti-American, and, showed total weakness in the Terri Schiavo murder case.

And, we do not need another Liberal Bush

I think it’s a good idea. People hoped Jeb Bush might run for Senator at some point. I think he’d be good for the job - he’s the most conservative of the Bushes, btw, and also has a much more outgoing, communicative personality - and Nelson certainly needs to go.

I’m so sick of BDS syndrome, which seems like it’s just never going to go away.

Jeb Bush was an excellent governor of Florida, quite conservative, and quite successful at getting his programs through. I think he’d make a great senator.

$10 says this is a step towards a white house run for 2016 or later. Then after that it will be time for the next generation of Clintons. /sarc

democrat polling firm did the study.

The Democrats are looking to “mccain” voters with another left leaning senator.

Keep in mind Jeb is not the stupid one. He did do a good job as governor.

His amnesty kryptonite comes from his inlaws.
