Whenever lefties often use the worn out phrase of ‘Don’t you want to help people??”, I reply YES and then ask them four questions of my own:
1) What does helping people have to do with government??
2) Are people being assisted RIGHT NOW without government??
3) Do we STILL have poor people even with government aid??
4) Isn’t MORE cost efficient to give our cash VOLUNTARILY to charities that have less overhead(Bureaucracy) and is immediately used to assist the poor??
The most common answer from these questions: Private charities are not Fair.
Answer....
I don’t really care
I don’t really care
I don’t really care
I don’t really care
“Private charities are not Fair.”
And I suppose confiscatory taxation IS?
Trying to reason with libs is the biggest waste of time on earth. They run on emotion and the ‘Rats are the master manipulators of emotion.
Demagoguery, I believe they call it.
Well, I see some people who are still working at 90 and 100 years of age; a few anyway, mighty few live that long. We started “drawing” last year, and still work some along with it. - For years, the government gave the impression, well Al Gore did anyway, that the money we paid into social security was put in a LOCKBOX somewhere. A GIANT LOCKBOX - Ha!
I think “every liberal” in the title should be changed to “Every number crunching economist liberal”. As a solid D student in college economics, I am probably not alone in saying my eyes glazed over when I got past the first paragraph in this article. Some people love this stuff, but I just can’t comprehend the intricacies of “fluctuating interest rates”.
The minister I was chatting with left me with the distinct impression that his theology was based on the general principles of Jesus, but not on His divinity.
This was the third time during this Holiday Season that I encountered a name-only Christian who denied the divinity of Jesus.
1) What is total spending of the federal budget? -We need to spend more money on education.
2) What is the federal deficit? -It's Bush's fault
3) What is the national debt? -It's the total sum of all Republican military spending.
4) What was the most recent interest payment on the national debt? -Why cant we spend that money here at home to help the poor?
The commenter pretty much summed up the intellectual capacity of a liberal. Even if you could lead the liberal to providing the correct answers to those questions, you could not make him/her understand the implications. True understanding and rational thought are as beyond liberal comprehension as quantum physics is beyond someone with Downs syndrome. (Not to insult anyone with Downs!)
Only the lucky few who lived unusually long lives would actually benefit from SS.
That model actually works, since you would always have more people paying in than taking out. But we abandoned that.
Today, if the average age of death is 73, and if SS payments began at age 75, we'd be OK -- but would anyone support that? No. What they would support is a ponzi scheme that cannot possibly work.
exactly, so people better get prepared while they can

If he denied the divinity of Christ, then your minister was a heretic.
1 John 2:22
Who is the liar? It is whoever denies that Jesus is the Christ. Such a person is the antichristdenying the Father and the Son.
Jude 1:4
For certain individuals whose condemnation was written about long ago have secretly slipped in among you. They are ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into a license for immorality and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord.
This is really beautiful and all, but it won’t matter. Liberals simply do not care. If they did, they wouldn’t be liberals. As long as it is someone else’s money, they won’t ‘feel’ a thing.
I agree. Here’s the problem: anyone trying to honestly fix this mess would cause so much pain they would pi$$ everyone off and be voted out of office. The debt is this abstract concept that bothers a lot of people in a non-specific way. Its akin to knowing that you’re going to die one day. Everyone knows its inevitable and no one likes it, but they don’t let that knowledge dominate their lives. When you start cutting specific programs, things become less abstract and more concrete. People want the other guy to sacrifice, not them. Even people who opposed the debt will get exercised if specific cuts are painted as “mean”—this is especially true for women. In contrast, increasing the debt makes most people happy—especially if there is something in it for them.
So, to recap: politicians have no incentive to cut the debt; only to increase it. Eventually, this problem will blow up and it will be a pox on everyone’s house.
Their “philosophy” seems to consist of “Take care of me. And while you are at it, all the rest of the losers too.”
Interesting. Thanks for posting.
“It is impossible to introduce into society a greater change and a greater evil than this: the conversion of the law into an instrument of plunder.” - Frederic Bastiat 1801-1850
Wouldn’t our creditors get them?

Once you understand THE driving motivation behind most liberals’ desire to BE liberals, it all becomes clear.
They want to think well of themselves. They want to self-affirm their worth and “goodness”.
Both “caring” about people by spending others’ money to do so,
and insisting that most OTHER people “need taken care of” (ie, those needing taken care of are INFERIOR),
make them feel good about themselves as superior, both in competence/intellect and in moral compassion.
They REFUSE to examine any issue beyond this level.
The liberals I argue with will say that this is the reason we need 90% tax rates.
I have come to the same conclusion. The Republicans were elected with the idea that nibbling around the edge of the problem would fix it.
The cuts that are needed will have to be in the range of 50% to 60% of 2008 spending to have enough to pay down the debt.
Frightening that some mainstream churches have ministers who are non-believers.
