Arizona lawmaker set to ramp up fight against illegals
Washington Times ^ | December 29, 2010 | Valerie Richardson

Arizona took a public-relations punch to the gut after passing the nation's toughest anti-illegal-immigration law earlier this year, but anyone who thinks (or hopes) the state Legislature will lower its profile on the border-security issue in 2011 likely will be disappointed.

The state is positioned like never before to expand its efforts to combat illegal immigration. The November election saw Republican Jan Brewer elected to a second term as governor, largely on the strength of her decision to sign the headline-making law, while the Republican Party added to its already sizable majorities in the state House and Senate.

Most significantly of all, Russell Pearce was elected Arizona Senate president. For those who may not have heard of Mr. Pearce, let's just say that the 63-year-old Republican from Mesa wants to crack down on illegal immigration like desert javelinas want to eat prickly-pear cactus.

"I'm not stopping until the problem is solved, and clearly the problem is not solved," Mr. Pearce said in a telephone interview. "The cost is destroying this country, and it can no longer be ignored. I think America's had it. I think that's why we had the results we did in the election of 2010."

It won't come without a political price. ......

“He’s already getting pushback from the Arizona Republic, which argued in a Monday editorial that such a “wrongheaded quest” would distract from the more pressing matter of Arizona’s budget deficit.”

The Republic is convinced politicians can only deal with one thought concept at a time. Of course, that is because that is their problem!

mr. coder2 & I are planning a vacation to AZ in February --- nothing set in concrete yet, but part of our plan is to look for retirement possibilities (a few years off but not too soon to start looking).

Never been to AZ, so I'm really looking forward to it and knowing that AZ is committed to resolving the illegal situation in their state is an added plus.

Ah, excellent idea. I really am considering moving back to AZ now; Napolitano run out of the state, Constitutional Carry, low taxes, honesty about the negative impact of illegal immigration, Bristol Palin moving to Pinal County, Marijuana legalized via constitutional provision, etc.

February/March are excellent. Comfortable in the deserts; plenty of snow in the mountains, if you want a short alpine break. If southern California is having a wet winter you may get a few storms, usually short. Even April is ok. Only go to the Arizona desert past April if you like hot. We also like mid-November thru mid-December especially (I went twice this year).

If for some odd reason you go in the hot season, make sure not to miss the early morning hour outdoors. The light is fabulous and colors are at the best, the temperature is comfortable, the birds are singing, and the air is clear. It's worth becoming a morning person. Or just stay up really, really late and sleep during the hot part of the day ( naps are good ).

I usually try to skip August and January. Tho after the dust storm desert sunset in August can be pretty intense.

Also hoping Beautiful New Mexico also comes to to the same conclusion as Arizona on illegal immigration and Demorat betrayal (Highly likely, a lot of the Native and Hispanic population is not comfortable with the Narco influenced invasion).

More good news (my emphasis):

"First on his list is a bill to end birthright citizenship. Mr. Pearce and other lawmakers plan to unveil the measure at a Jan. 5 press conference at the National Press Club, five days before the start of the Arizona legislative session.

The idea is to make a big enough splash to catch the attention of other states that may be considering similar legislation. At least a dozen states are already expected to join Arizona in introducing legislation changing how they recognize the U.S.-born children of noncitizens.

A cloward-Piven from our side - overwhelm the Feds.

According to the radical hispanic groups, you are not allowed to call them illegals anymore. You have to call them “undocumented workers”. *barf barf barf* Maybe we should call them “undocumented (drug) cartel workers”.

Wetbacks. It's simpler...

The more this issue is made public the more our side wins. The other side only has lies and nonsense on their side.

To be honest, that was long enough ago to forget what we had for dinner. But I do recall it being a great evening with fine food.

Wish there was one fairly nearby. The closest is 57 miles away. Too far for an evening dinner.

I’d love it if they opened one in Rockford, IL.
