Two new rules will give Constitution a starring role in GOP-controlled House

When Republicans take over next week, they will do something that apparently has never been done before in the 221-year history of the House of Representatives.

They will read the Constitution aloud.

And then they will require that every new bill contain a statement by the legislator who wrote it citing the constitutional authority to enact the proposed law.

Call it the tea party-ization of Congress.

"It appears that the Republicans have been listening," said Jeff Luecke, a sales supervisor and tea party organizer in Dubuque, Iowa. "We're so far away from our founding principles that, absolutely, this is the very, very tip of the iceberg. We need to talk about and learn about the Constitution daily."

**SNIP**

The reading of the Constitution will occur Jan. 6, one day after the swearing in of Speaker-designate John Boehner (R-Ohio). The 4,543-word document, including all 27 amendments, could be read aloud in just 30 minutes.

LOL, this would have been a good Idea before the Civil War. Now?

Authorization for Bill 1X: 14th Amendment.

Authorization for Bill 2X: 14th Amendment.

Authorization for Bill 3X: 14th Amendment.

Authorization for Bill 4X: 14th Amendment.

Authorization for Bill 5X: 14th Amendment.

Authorization for Bill 6X: 14th Amendment.

...

Although this will draw attention to That Which Shall Not Be Noticed.

So that's good.

Make voting on any bill only for those critters who can pass the “Understanding the Constitution Test”.

Great beginning, however, I will keep my excitement in check until I see that only laws that pass Constitutional muster, are passes.

I will really get excited when current laws are checked for Constitutionality, and repealed if they don’t.

The Constitutional Authority that will be cited in the vast majority of the Bills will be the “Commerce Clause”, which provides the justification for everything from condoms to toilet paper.....

Please, may it be so.

Finally, someone using their heads. Make waves...do your jobs. Don’t be intimidated.

Also since the left can change the rules in mid stream then the right
can do the same.

It’s our turn.

Take no prisoners.

Let’s Roll!

Step up and you will see the money roll in.

Maybe the first bill of each congress should be the constitution. Those that vote NAY or present or are absent are referred to the ethics committee (violation of their oath) for trial and eviction.

You’re right.

They will read the Constitution aloud. And then promptly ignore it.

This is a good move on the part of the Repubs. All debate will be drawn to the Constitutionality of the issue, and the Constitutionality of the resolution of the issue. It’ll be red, white, and blue with stars, and stripes, and NOT RED with sickle and hammer on a one way alley heading for a brick wall with towers.

They're going to be up against it. What Older Americans Stand to Lose if Health Reform Goes Down

This regular article goes out to thousands of small newspapers throughout the US every week. 'Newspapers?', you say. 'Who reads newspapers anymore?'

The same demographic that votes - Seniors.

In my local paper the headline reads: SENIORS Bipartisan proposals threaten Medicare

We've been at war for a long time. We better win the war for the hearts and minds of our fellow Americans if we want there to be an America.

FReepers need to fire up their email lists and get educating!
