To the Left, Children Are Compensation

What makes a good parent?

Many things, of course. But an obvious prerequisite is someone whose parenting goals have less to do with what he or she wants and more to do with what children need. Sadly, this attitude no longer prevails in mainstream American society.

Elton John and Eva Longoria (Neil Patrick Harris, too) are the latest to jump on the Me first, Child last bandwagon. Longoria is in the process of divorcing husband Tony Parker (like most women in Hollywood eventually do), but she has no intention of letting a small thing like that stop her from being a mother. According to Us Weekly, Longoria has this to say about having children:

“It’s part of who I am and what grounds me. I believe I will have a baby one day, and hopefully it will be with an amazing father and husband. But if not, I’ll have a baby on my own.”

My goals have much more to do what what I want than what any (hypothetical) children need...which is one of the reasons I've chosen never to have them, unlike the subjects of this article.

In Hollywood, children are at best, status symbols, at worst, props.

The wrost part is that the child grows up thinking that once THEY have a child, they will end up getting the love they ‘deserve.’

It’s always been my observation that folks who make the decision you have, have made the right decision. Wish I could say the same about all the folks who made the decision to have kids.

More to the point in Hollywood, children are like a pair of ear-rings or shoes. An accessory to the outfit of the day, and closeted with a nanny if they are no longer in fashion.

Hollywood was mostly pro-abort and anti-baby until a few years ago, when suddenly famous Hollywood women started showing off their babies on the covers of People Magazine and similar venues.

There was a great vogue for going to Africa and adopting a black baby for a while. Then they could be brought back and dumped with a nanny, while the parents continued to do whatever they liked.

I’m not sure why, but babies have been used as photo-ops for the last five or six years. Everyone wants to be photographed at least once on the cover of a fashion magazine with a baby.

That seems to be the main consideration, as far as I can see.

Yeah, I didn't even realize that most women in Hollywood had even MARRIED him!

You don't get penned up? Even at night?

No, but Eric Holder had me micro-chipped.

Happy New Year!

Which is why Joan Crawford adopted four of them! At least she adopted them, I will give her that.

What a novel idea, I may borrow it but wait......then it wouldn't be novel anymore!

I don't know why I am bothering to type this to you, since you will only read my tag line anyway

Yours is remarkably unoriginal and potentially infectious.

Meanwhile back in the shrinking middle class land:

The feminazi pro biomom family court agenda marches on; (Children don’t NEED fathers; except for their money mantra)mom simply takes dad’s wallet in child support for the next 18 to 23 (in the blue states) years, yet is free to alienate her children against their father. Denying dad’s parenting time (visitation), trashing dad, calling him by his first name in front of the children; demanding that said children call her flav of the week “dad” etc. All winked at by the family court.

Then mom treats the children as BFF (best friends forever) and “free ranges” them. No boundaries, no structure, no discipline. Said children then develop entitlement syndrome, have no respect for adults or authority, fail in school and are slapped promptly on ADHD meds or are diagnosed with “Aspbergers.” More disability (SSI) money for the mom.

If mom DOES allow the children to go to dad’s house, he feels he must overcompensate for not having them full time, so he compounds the problem by spoiling them. Doesn’t discipline, makes visits 24/7 three ring circus (Disney Dad) and puts himself in financial ruin competing with his own wallet (has to pay massive child support to the biomom, yet still have enough money left over to treat children like kings and queens when at his house)

The children sense the non-united front and start playing it for all it’s worth. Playing the guilt card and greedily collecting two xmases, two easters, two b-days, two halloweens, and on and on it goes.

Throw in the “self-esteem” movement and the overpraise movement “Good job, Junior, you were able to breath all on your own” and you have a crop of underachieving, socially stunted hitlers on your hand.

Barack was one of the first to come off this assembly line of “free love” and was thusly pitied instead of his grandparents/parents having actual EXPECTATIONS of him. Social promotion in schools, everyone’s a winner, etc have lead to no achievement and a nation of idiots who THINK they’re all that and a bag of chips.
