Democrat Who Started Latest Death Panels Row Regrets Email

The Democrat who started the latest national debate over the inclusion of so-called “death panels” by the Obama administration into federal regulations now regrets doing so.

The office of Representative Earl Blumenauer, an assisted suicide advocate from Oregon who works closely with pro-euthanasia groups like Compassion and Choices, alerted supporters of the change the Obama administration implemented and worked to ask them to keep the news quiet.

“We would ask that you not broadcast this accomplishment out to any of your lists e-mails can too easily be forwarded,” his staff wrote. “Thus far, it seems that no press or blogs have discovered it but we will be keeping a close watch and may be calling on you if we need a rapid, targeted response. The longer this [regulation] goes unnoticed, the better our chances of keeping it.”

The memo talked of a “quiet” victory and had the congressman worrying about how Republican leaders would “use this small provision to perpetuate the ‘death panel’ myth.”

But LifeNews.com reported on the new regulations and, weeks later, the New York Times got a copy of the memo Blumenauer wrote and the national dustup began.

Now, Blumenauer told The Hill that he regret’s the secretive language used in the email, which he says he did not see beforehand.

“If I had seen the memo, I would have suggested it be worded differently,” Blumenauer told The Hill. Still, he defended the controversial new regulation.

“This was a reasonable thing for the administration to do,” Blumenauer said, adding that he doesn’t expect Congress to try to repeal the regulation because Republicans are focusing on repealing and de-funding ObamaCare in its entirety.

Democratic strategist Bill Galston told the congressional newspaper that Blumenauer hurt efforts to defend the regulation by trying to keep it a secret, saying, “It was stupid.”

Tom McClusky of the Family Research Council commented on the memo and said pro-life people need to understand the importance of Blumenauer’s role in the debate.

“Blumenauer is very important to this tale for it is with him that the legislative origins of the assisted suicide language begin,” he said. “The origins of the language are extremely important when you think about the motivation of the people behind it.”

“The original bill language would provide Medicare and Medicaid reimbursements to doctors who direct people to take their own lives instead of seek treatment and was written by a group called Compassion & Choices, an offshoot of a group from the 1980′s that called itself the Hemlock Society, the nation’s leading advocate for assisted suicide,” McClusky explained. “Ultimately the language was not in the final passed bill, though many other factors leading to rationing were included.”

Although the advanced directives apparently can’t be used to facilitate an assisted suicide, there is concern physicians will pressure or persuade patients to make decisions that would ration care or withdraw lifesaving medical treatment.

The left isn't at all sorry about the death panels, they are just upset that they got exposed.

:::::::::::::::

True. But the “death panels” were exposed way back before this power-grab atrocity was voted on in the disgusting Congress. And it shows the level of sickness and perversion that must be dealt with.

‘Death panels’ were always going to be part of ObamaCare because of the cost of the program. Sarah Palin understood this and said so (in August, 2009) which is why she was summarily denounced by the liberals and probably another reason why the left fears Palin...she sees through the liberal BS and isn’t afraid to speak out - and her statements get attention, even thought the leftmedia try very hard to portray Palin as a dope and a loon. She is far from it - and they know it. Death Panels are real and another reason to abolish the hated ObamaCare program.

Although the pro-death folks intend this to be a measure to encourage self-rationing, I think the conservative strategy of calling what Blumenauer got into the regulations “death panels” and “evil” is a mistake for several reasons:

1. There are no panels on any kind involved! (Now the part of the bill that deals with Comparable Effectiveness Research” *IS* about death panels but that is a totally different thing).

2. This measure just allows doctors to get reimbursed for talking to you about your choices.

SO ...

3. What we should be doing is encouraging pro-life counseling (such as the “Will To Live” document) by doctors since the new regulations do not specify what the doctor is to say.

The Death Panel is greedily looking at the Social Security payments made by a hypothetical baby boomer who began working in 1970 and has made the maximum contribution to SS for 40 years.

The total contribution by the employee and employer would be $257,432.

The Death Panel is hoping they can keep most of that money contributed by our hypothetical baby boomer by having the person’s life shortened thru an Obama decree.

As usual follow the money when it comes to Marxists!!!!

The office of Representative Earl Blumenauer, an assisted suicide advocate from Oregon who works closely with pro-euthanasia groups like Compassion and Choices, alerted supporters of the change the Obama administration implemented. and worked to ask them to keep the news quiet, now regrets his Email.

We need to determine if this creep Blumenauer is associated with the infamous "Church of Euthanasia." The Church of Euthanasia (CoE), is a political organization started by the Reverend Chris Korda* in the Boston, Massachusetts area.

According to the church's website, it is "a non-profit educational foundation devoted to restoring balance between Humans and the remaining species on Earth." The CoE is notorious for its conflicts with Pro-life Christian activists.

According to the church's website, their one commandment is "Thou shalt not procreate". The CoE further asserts four principal pillars: suicide, abortion, cannibalism ("strictly limited to consumption of the already dead"), and sodomy ("any sexual act not intended for procreation").

Slogans employed by the group include "Save the Planet, Kill Yourself", "Six Billion Humans Can't Be Wrong", and "Eat a Queer Fetus for Jesus", all of which are intended to mix inflammatory issues to unnerve those who oppose abortion and homosexuality.

The Church gained early attention in 1995 because of its affiliation with paranoia.com which hosted many sites that were controversial or skirted illegality. Members later appeared on The Jerry Springer Show titled "I Want to Join a Suicide Cult".

The church stresses population reduction by voluntary means only. Therefore murder and involuntary sterilization are strictly forbidden by church doctrine. The church's website previously had instructions on "how to kill yourself" by asphyxiation using helium. These pages were removed in 2003 after a 52-year-old woman used them to commit suicide in St. Louis County, Missouri, resulting in legal threats against the church. (SOURCE WIKI)
