She gave her life protecting negative dirtbags like you. May she rest in peace.

I’m with you, no mom cops.

With the exception of female guards in female prisons and maybe one female cop per precinct to handle rape victims etc. Not out there in shootouts for crying out loud.

“I guess it’s okay for children to grow up without fathers...

And yes, that was very sexist.”

Nope.

To grow up without a father or a mother is a tragedy.

But the father’s role is to protect the mother and children.

It is not the mother’s role to protect the father.

Women should not be deliberately putting themselves in harm’s way. A car accident is an accident. A cop shootout is on purpose. There is a difference.

Condolences on the death of your dad. I have to believe he’d be proud of you and your sibling, carrying on after his death.

Nothing easy about it. But you know he died protecting the innocent.

A mom is one of the innocents to be protected. I’d have problems with my dad if he ‘let’ her go out there be the protector instead of the protectee for a living.

“PC has hit us all hard.”

It has also confused very appropriate gender roles.

For me, it’s not a question of upper body strength or the ability to shoot.

It’s a question of the role of women in society.

I don’t see women as worth more or less than men. I just see them in different roles, each one of great value.

Men are the protectors. Putting women on the front line robs men of a main role of theirs; inserts a main role on the women; and upsets the gender balance. Children, as usual, hardest hit.

That doesn’t mean it’s better to lose a dad than a mom.

If you lose your dad in the line of fire, you still have pride of him; a fighting man who died protecting you, your family, your country, your city.

If you lost your mom in the line of fire, you say, why wasn’t anyone protecting her? Particularly if you are a young boy, you think, why couldn’t I protect her? You don’t feel bad about not protecting your dad.

You feel bad about not protecting your mom.

Perp got some explaining to do to the Lord. No defense laywer to save him.

“Uhhhhh, gee, Jesus....was just having a bad day. I’m a victim of circumstance and just wanted to end it all. Ehhhh, why did I murder the cop? Hmmmmm, gee, don’t know, felt I had to do something to strike back at the ‘system’.

“Oh, you want me to slide down the chute? Well, okay, I hope you change your mind. Kind of hot down there.”

>> Maybe some day Palin will get the sex change she is craving.

That’s a nutty comment.

The Palin family is quite normal. Sarah’s success is something to be lauded, not trivialized because she doesn’t meet your standards of eloquence.

How are you more Conservative than Palin not counting the inflammatory rhetoric?

The shooter was Michael Ferryman age 57, the local papers reported that the police had responded to several minor incidents in the past at his residence. Apparently they were expecting to be dealing with an idiot not a killer. It is part of the risk assumed when someone puts on either a badge or a military uniform. I am just thankful someone has the heart or desire for these jobs, man or woman. The Springfield area is as economically depressed as anywhere in this country if not even worse then most, but the people are pretty good folks. This was a tragedy.

Perhaps it would be best if we ignored gender and had
fitness requirements.

nmh is suffering from PDS. In this forum, that affliction may prove to be terminal.

Female cops shouldn't be allowed in the field. PERIOD!

Obviously, but you'll never convince the politically correct who would jeopardize a females life as well as others to make sure political correctness is forced on all of us.

Attacks here against Palin are often indirect attacks against other FReepers. At the least the attacks could be substantial instead hollow vitriol.

And how, exactly was there any difference here between a male or female officer?

We need to go through this again?

If your on patrol in the senseless murder district, are you going to want a 6'3" 245 pound male partner or a female, mother of two as your partner?

If you get a routine call to go into a bar full of drunken fighting lumberheads do you want a male who can handle himself or a woman to go? If your home is on fire and your upstairs unconscious, do you want a woman or a man capable of carrying you down stairs to show up first?

Agreed. A certain RINO and elitist faction of FReepers has been emerging from their hiding places in recent years.

Meaningless question. Car accidents are random events that can happen to anyone. Being a police officer is inherently dangerous.
