Breaking: CNN’s Former Morning Host John Roberts Expected To Join Fox News
Mediaite ^ | January 3, 2011 | Colby Hall

CNN’s John Roberts is expected to join FOX News Channel as a senior national correspondent based in Atlanta and will be reporting on major domestic and international stories for the network. Roberts came up the ranks of CBS News, often filling in for then Evening News anchor Dan Rather, and was most recently co-host of CNN’s American Morning. Roberts very recently left that show, and CNN altogether, amid major changes at American Morning.

Some industry insiders are sure to see this as somewhat of a coup for Fox News, as Roberts will shore up the news side of FNC’s news programming. Anytime a news network can add an award winning journalist who has covered nearly every major news story of the last two decades for both CBS News and CNN. Some suggested that Roberts was poorly utilized at CNN hosting a morning news program, but Roberts did have some terrific reporting moments when he was brought out of the studio, namely while interviewing BP COO Doug Suttles, asking him “how he slept”?

It appears that Fox News will use Roberts in a similar vein, getting him out of the studio and reporting in the field on major news stories. Not only is this a win for FNC, but for fans of old school journalists as well.

I wouldn't know him if I fell over him. But I see CBS, I see that he filled in for Dan Rather, I see CNN ...

What I think I see is Fox leaning ever further to the Left.

getting him out of the studio and reporting in the field on major news stories

IIRC, that was supposedly the justification for giving Drama Queen his huge boost in salary.

All Shepard does these days is read the news and wait for another car chase -- in a four day work week. If it's Friday, there's a shortage of onscreen eyeshadow at FOX...

Didn't like him at CNN...but I'll give FNC a very short leash to prove me wrong.

Was probably not a good move on Fox's part...

Boy, you can say that again. That guy is a major league lefty. What is Ailes thinking?

Will Harry Smith, who is out as anchor of the CBS Morning Show, be next to join Fox?

I’m not too sure having all these lefties moving over to FOX is a good thing.

Spoiling the water.

It’s a business decision. And Roger Ailes isn’t known for making business decisions that reduce the bottom line. Follow the money. End of story.

That's reporting? I'd have answered "I put on CNN and I'm out like a light."

Anytime Bill Kristol comes on the screen, I mute the sound. Now, I have another one to mute. Sheesh, between the arregant, eliteist, Kristol, the stuttering, stammering buffoon, Fred Barnes, Shep Smith and now this CNN reject, what is FNC coming to.
