Report: Boehner making calls for Cino in RNC race

Maria Cino continues to get help from big GOP names in her bid for the Republican National Committee chairmanship.

Cino's campaign was helped off the ground by her former colleagues in the Bush administration, including Vice President Dick Cheney and GOP strategist Mary Matalin who hosted a fundraiser for her.

More recently, she's been getting help from incoming House Speaker John Boehner.

The Ohio Republican has made phone calls to some of the 168 committee members on Cino's behalf, two members told CNN. Boehner, however, has not publicly backed Cino, who is not among the favorites to succeed RNC Chairman Michael Steele.

Cino also recently got a shout out from Mike Duncan, a former RNC chairman who has been critical of Steele's leadership. Duncan called Cino and Missouri Republican Party Chairwoman Ann Wagner are "extremely well qualified" for the job.

Meanwhile, Wisconsin GOP Chairman Reince Priebus is getting help from Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) and the state's newly elected Republican governor, Scott Walker.

I've looked through Cino's history of donations and what stands out is who she didn't contribute to. Donations to Tea Party candidates is clearly absent with maybe one exception (I think she gave to Marsha Blackburn). I don't trust any of those who want the job and Cino is the last person we need. She appears to be a Susan Collins type and I've heard nothing to disprove it.

She gave to people no conservative in good conscience would.

Personally I don’t really care what rino the GOP brahmins elect to run the RNC. You KNOW it’s going to be a gutless sycophant who dances to the elite’s tune.

She’s a lobbyist. It’s not unusual for lobbyists to direct their donations to people who vote on legislation of interest to their clients.

I dont read too much into it. It’s just how Dee Cee operates.

Supporting Cino is beneath contempt. She was hugely responsible for the healthcare bills. She worked with Pfizer and the other companies who wrote the healthcare bill and delivered it to the congress people who voted on it without bothering to read what the corporations had decided to pass.

The GOP is worthless. You want to be a serf to Pfizer? You are3 an idiot to throw away your freedom.

There are some worse than others and we will get tarred with the brush of them whether we support them or not. Steele at least has appeared to have learned his lesson. I’d prefer not to have a person far to the left of Steele replace him. I don’t think she will get the job but I know exactly what they are thinking. This lady served on the board of a pro-abortion group. Does anyone think that was an accident? She has tool written all over her.

“Donations to Tea Party candidates is clearly absent”

That says much.

If the Nabobs want her, she's a blue blood RINO. From what I have been able to find out, she is “probably” just that.

Yep. The challenger candidate I’ve been impressed with is :

Priebus - “if you’re pro-abortion, pro-stimulus, pro-bailout, you might not be a Republican.”

I think Priebus has the edge even though I still have questions about him but we’ll know the game is up if someone like Cino rises to the top.

>> we will get tarred with the brush of them

Hmmm... who is “we”?

I’m not a republican. I’m a conservative.

I do not donate to the RNC. I don’t listen to them either. And they damn sure don’t speak for me.

FRegards

This does not matter... we are not funding the rnc anyway... haven't for years... and we just proved that we can finance and communicate an election without the bastids... screw them... nothing says failure like being ignored.

This is so easy... just do it and when they call... let them know how disgusting their entire machine is... and they will call... you can never get rid of the republican fund-raising calls. I know... I get them several times every week... and I do not hold back when they call... and I NEVER give them a dime. They see what I was giving... and now it hurts. Screw them.

Not a good sign. Cino is a pro-abortion RINO.

Boehner showing his true colors again?

Cino is from Buffalo, NY, which is home to few conservative Republicans. I won't claim to know her history, but I have a hunch that she is a liberal Republican. She is not what this party needs at this time, and once again, Boehner is on the wrong side of this one.

I’m so used to acronyms I read the title to mean CINO as in Conservative In Name Only. Sounds like my first instinct was right.

Perhaps Boehner needs to be challenged. I am totally fed up with Republicans promoting people simply because they have been around a long time. I had hopes for Boehner but, if he can't do the job the American people need him to do, he needs to be history. We need a strong man/woman who understands that the Republicans were elected to REVERSE THE OBAMA AGENDA. That doesn't mean Conservative-lite. DO YOU HEAR US DC-GOP?
