EPA to enforce greenhouse-gas rules in AZ
Arizona Daily Star ^ | 1/2/11

Posted on 01/05/2011 5:20:19 AM PST by EBH

However, the state has reluctantly agreed to let the EPA impose the federal plan for now, because the agency could have blocked construction or expansion of projects that need the air permits.

The new rules, which took effect Sunday, add greenhouse gases to the list of pollutants covered under air-quality permits and will eventually require the largest polluters to reduce emissions.

The federal intervention widens a rift between Arizona and the EPA, which have been feuding over a dust-control plan in Maricopa County.

"It's not a good situation, but our approach will prevent a bad situation from getting worse," said Benjamin Grumbles, the now-former director of the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality, who negotiated the agreement with the EPA.

Grumbles, who left the agency last month, said everyone knows it's important to improve air quality and reduce greenhouse-gas emissions.

"It just doesn't make sense to put all of our efforts into developing a program based on an EPA authority that is under intense scrutiny in Congress and the courts," he said.

Federal agencies that “feud” with Sovereign States??????

I’m pretty sure that wasn’t the agreement when States joined the union.

“widens a rift between Arizona and the EPA, which have been feuding over a dust-control plan in Maricopa County.”

There’s a great deal of natural dust in the air in Maricopa County; it’s not going away just because it registers on an EPA scale as a ‘pollutant’. It’s been there forever and it’s still
going to be there in the future.

A bunch of radical leftwing loonies in Washington D.C. have a plan to control the dust in the desert. ROTFL!!! What a bunch of clowns. This is going to be hilarious to watch. These pinheads might want to visit a desert sometime before taking this fiasco on.

The EPA could help control the dust by stopping all the illegals from trampling through the AZ desert.

Maybe this will be a good thing. The EPA, a good idea gone bad, is out of control and this latest outrage should help remove any lingering doubts to the contrary.

The EPA should be grounded. It needs adult supervision, a curfew and no more allowance money.

If dust is a pollutant what is the EPA going to do if natural drought conditions combine with commonly occurring strong winds to produce dust storms? I’m sure by the EPA’s circular reasoning droughts are caused by global warming so if we outlaw dust there will be no global warming. Perhaps EPA officials can like King Canute commanding the tides, can command the winds to stop.

“It’s not a good situation, but our approach will prevent a bad situation from getting worse,”

And how to catch wild pigs:

You catch wild pigs by finding a suitable place in the woods and putting corn on the ground. The pigs find it and begin to come every day to eat the free corn. When they are used to coming every day, you put a fence down one side of the place where they are used to coming. When they get used to the fence, they begin to eat the corn again and you put up another side of the fence. They get used to that and start to eat again.

You continue until you have all four sides of the fence up with a gate in the last side. The pigs, who are used to the free corn, start to come through the gate to eat; you slam the gate on them and catch the whole herd. Suddenly the wild pigs have lost their freedom. They run around and around inside the fence, but they are caught.

Soon they go back to eating the free corn. They are so used to it that they have forgotten how to forage in the woods for themselves, so they accept their captivity.

“loonies in Washington D.C. have a plan to control the dust in the desert.”

First they want to get the dust out of the desert, then they will want to get the sand out of the beach, then the wet out of water.

That’s very disappointing. I would have hoped that Brewer had more backbone. She needs Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott
to give her a lesson in how to give the EPA the middle finger salute.

I thought after her immigration battle she knew how. If the States let the EPA put a boot on thier necks it can ONLY get
worse.

If CO2 was really a greenhouse gas then ultimatley they will be able to tax us on our air consumption...
How is it that the few always end up dictating the action of the many and in this case the few are abiding in a fairy tale. Much like sheep, if one in the front of the flock jumps for no reason, all behind it will jump in the same spot...
