” So how does a female candidate under 60 demonstrate her fitness for the job? Does she have to provide evidence of her infertility, or have her tubes tied? “

That’s the whole point. How does she show that this is not a potential problem? The answer may just be that it’s impossible and therefore young females are unfit for president. I don’t know and I doubt many voters have ever really thought of it. I can’t beleive I just thought of it myself.

One thing for sure is that the time to find the answer to this question is NOT immedialtely following the nomination of BHO as the DEM candidate and Michelle Bachmann as the Republican. It’s too late then and it could mean another 4 years of Obama.

I can understand your fear. However, we can see that there are certainly women of child-bearing age that run companies and serve as legislators with no problem. We even have an example of a female Governor who carried a pregnancy to term while in office - sarah Palin. Most of the state didn’t know she was pregnant until 2 months prior to the delivery!

So their very gender is apparently not that big a barrier to selection or election to a powerful post.

The other question you have to ask is this: will more people be frightened by the idea of a 56-year-old Bachman *possibly* getting pregnant, or another four years of Obama?
