For the first time in history more than half the world’s population is living in towns and cities. We passed this milestone in 2008 and by 2040 two in three people are expected to live in urban environments.

Urbanisation presents us with a wealth of new opportunities and huge challenges. It has the potential to further economic development and innovation, but also threatens to exacerbate key global problems, including resource depletion, climate change, and inequality.

Megacities on the move sets out to find solutions to one of the biggest challenges – how billions of city-dwellers can access what they need without putting intolerable strains on the planet. It focuses on how to achieve sustainable urban mobility, looking at all the ways in which people will access goods, services and information and make contact with each other. It goes beyond transport to consider ICT solutions, innovative urban design and much more.

The one thing that really puts me off is the idea that they “Assign careers” to people.... Really smacks of the whole central planning that Mao did concerning people’s careers.

Here's the real goal of the will-to-power driven monsters running the White House today: Millions of us dead. The rest of us in chains in a lao gai-style barracks culture. No wonder these monsters worship the like of Mao Tse Tung. Tell me again - how many millions did he slaughter and starve?

I have a master’s degree in urban planning though I have never used it. Sometime in my second term I had my moment on the road to Damascus. It’s all central planning and diametrically opposed to the idea of individual liberty.

I lived in the city for years, (atlanta) then moved
to the country. Now I’m looking for a house in the
COUNTRY.

When people drive to the end of the dirt road, cross the
creek and get to my house, I want them to find a sign
that says, “Gone to the country, be back in two weeks”.

For Home

They had a show on last night about the “prophets of doomsday” and had about 10 “futurists” (WTH is a futurist?). And they each had a reason that American was going to destroy itself. One guy’s issue was overpopulation and that we’d have a great “die off” and would be saved by living in these little socialist utopias.

They don't care as in:
a) they don't know about Orwell
b) they don't think anyone else knows about Orwell
c) they know or don't think we know and/or it doesn't matter to them anyway
d) a combination of the above
