LA JOLLA — Two San Diego County congressmen wrote a letter Thursday urging the Obama administration to “vigorously defend” the Mount Soledad war memorial in La Jolla in the wake of a court ruling that said the giant cross there is unconstitutional.
The letter was signed by Republican Reps. Brian Bilbray of Solana Beach and Duncan Hunter of R-Alpine. It was sent to Attorney General Eric Holder and Secretary of Defense Robert Gates.
On Tuesday, a three-judge panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals issued the latest ruling in the 20-year battle over the presence of the Latin cross on public land. It is at the center of a memorial for war veterans on land now owned by the Defense Department. The city of San Diego previously owned the land and had been ordered to remove the cross.

Do they REALLY believe Holder and the Obama regime will defend the CROSS at the Veteran’s Memorial in CA? Tell me they aren’t that naive...

Sometimes,,i think we should approach this differently. This cross is a symbol. If this symbol advances the cause of Christ by being destroyed, then lets do it.
Call a large public gathering, give speeches against the socialist erasing of Americas history. Compare it to Stalin destroying Churches and airbrushing photos. Announce that to comply with the democrat party and the court ruling, it will be destroyed,,, then knock it over with dynamite.
Film it,, make it the equivalent of the Taliban shooting the tank cannon at that giant stone Buddah statue.
Publically name the people who brought the suit (thanking them MOST eloquently for their service, of course!)
Leave the wreckage on site. Illuminate the wreckage at night. Put up a historical plaque honoring it as the work of the American court system.
Make it a modern day Alamo. Make their taking of the cross the beginning of their defeat.
Yes, then we will see more crosses around the area as it was a few years ago when this old fiasco started.
It is a bit like urging the fox to vigorously guard the henhouse, but if you don’t go through the motion of making the request, then you can’t complain if it isn’t granted.
Much to your dismay, Hunter and Bilbray (who are they again?) need Sarah Palin if they want action or recognition.

Well, it WOULD be a very nice fig leaf from Obama’s point of view. He might pick up 10% in popularity by doing that.
Obama refused to respond to a letter from the leadership of the VFW& American Legion who asked he intervene or at least allow them speak to the Lower Court over the stolen Mojave
Desert Cross memorial. He did have the ACLU urge the Court to ignore the Veterans. Now the anti-Military— and anti-Christian un American idiots of the 9th Circus Court of Schameels. is gunning for the same with Mt.Soledad Memorial.
I’ve written Justice Kennedy explaining WHY I believe the
opinion by Mckeown is crap.and borders on violation of Judicial Code because the intent is clearly to manifest that courts contempt for the supreme Court as they have not responded to the remanded Mojave Cross case.Until the Court honors the Constitution WHY should we honor the courts?
