Rudy gearing up for DC run (Giuliani in 2012?)
New York Post ^ | 1:08 AM, January 7, 2011

Confident that he'd have a chance to win, Rudy Giuliani is rounding up his top political advisers for a possible 2012 presidential run.

Sources say the tough-talking former mayor "thinks the Republican race will be populated with far-right candidates like Mitt Romney, Sarah Palin and Mike Huckabee, and there's opportunity for a moderate candidate with a background in national security."

Giuliani has even scheduled a trip to New Hampshire for next month to meet with constituents in the state that failed him in January 2008, when he placed fourth in the Republican presidential primary.

The problem is that even Rudy loyalists think it's a bad idea. "They think this is crazy," a source said. "They realize how long the odds are, but they are standing by."

It doesn't bode well for Rudy that he thinks statists Romney and (even more so) Huckabee are "far right."

Rudy, Rudy, Rudy. Get a grip and start looking for another Mayor gig. Bell CA might be able to use you. You will NEVER be POTUS.

Rudy was a fool not to run for NYS attorney general this time around. He would have won and been perfectly poised to either move into the Governor’s seat or a spot heading the Justice Department in 2013.

Another run for Thompson too?

McCain might as well try again.

Even GHWB has one more term, white hair and aged.

The GOP can still find a old guy to fill the O of the GOP.

Hannity will start shilling for him again. We dont need 2008 losers like Romney, Huckaphony and Guiliani. He has NO chance of winning the presidency. Just sit back and count your money, Rudy, and let a real conservative step up to the plate.

I'd love a serious run by Fred. He's the real deal when it comes to conservatism, he's got gravitas and he's articulate.

Unfortunately it's clear the guy doesn't really want to work for the job.

(Though if my wife looked like his I'd probably want to stay home more too). :-)

He couldn’t beat them for the nomination in 2008. What’s changed?

Snowball's chance in Hell, Rudy - now that we all know who and what you really are! But, hey, go for it. Rudy must be into sadomasochism

Personally, I think that anyone who ran and lost in 2008 should just hang it up. We need fresh blood, not retreads.

Fred was a big McCain supporter in 2000. He talks the talk but he is pimping reverse mortgages on tv ads now. Pathetic. Forget Fred.

Rudy gearing up for DC run...

Good for him. I can support him for DC. What office, Mayor? Comptroller?

No higher office than that though...
