WASHINGTON -- Rep. Jim Clyburn on Sunday said Sharron Angle's endorsement of "Second Amendment remedies" in her losing Nevada campaign against Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid contributed to the shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords.

Clyburn, the House assistant Democratic leader, said of Giffords' alleged assailant, Jared Lee Loughner: "It seems like this gentleman was not satisfied with the way the election came out. "There's no way you cannot make that connection (with Angle's rhetoric) unless you want to be stupid."

Clyburn was quick to call for more funding for protection for congress critters today too, especially in conjunction with TSA. Could that have anything to do with Barry's plan to unionize the TSA? Hmmm...more funding for union TSA workers thanks to a crisis they won't let go to waste? Of course Clyburn took umbrage at being treated like everyone else at the airport too - he'll no doubt want VIP treatment so he can avoid the unwashed masses he and the other ruling elites reign over.

I actually think it’s probably a good thing on balance. For example, there are probably a decent number of “Mark Chapmans” judging by the fact that both names are reasonably common. By styling the murderer as “Mark David Chapman” it probably has a destigmatizing effect on the poor unfortunates who woke up one day to find out they shared a first and last name with a killer.
