I guess that means SK is safe for a short while, at least until the new guys get comfy.

there is atmosphere of abject fear about Kim Jong-eun’s purge drive inside N. Korean Military.

That’s the way to make friends alright.
This could get interesting.

N. Korean military is in the middle of inexplicable personnel reassignment and purge drive.

I don’t know if anyone here has read The Tom Clancy Book Red Storm Rising,But that was part of the Russian disinformation program as well as military intimidation program to encourage their troops to fight harder.

I wonder if we may be seeing a prelude to a renewal of warfare on the Korean Peninsula.

I’ve seen a number of analyses to the effect that it’s been the Generals who have historically exerted a calming influence on the ambitions of the Kim dynasty...

If so, this purge of the top ranks (replacing the Old Guard with younger, presumably more loyal to the Kims, Generals) may not be a particularly good omen.....

If you’re in power in a tyrannical police state, you can be a windshield one day, the bug on a windshield the next.

Haha. I feel not one bit sorry for the poor Generals. They have been the “chief water carriers” for Kim Jong-eun’s crazy daddy for years and they have been eating caviar while the rest of the population starved.

This is just like an inter-nacine fight within a Mafia family where the “mid-level thugs” always, covet the power of the Don.

I pray they all kill each other in a circular firing squad.

If I was Kim Jong-eun, I would keep the Gulf Stream IV fueled and constantly ready for a quick exit. Some Nork
General might just think he has the wherewitha, and one day decides to put a cap in the heads of those crazy Jongs.

Not sure if this WaPo article deserves its own thread: http://www.washingtonpost.com/world/asia_pacific/for-kim-jong-eun-a-choreographed-rise/2012/01/07/gIQAizmPhP_story.html?hpid=z5

I especially like this excerpt: **Kim Jong Eun, according to propaganda described in a recent Chinese magazine article, learned to drive at age 3. By 8, he could safely maneuver dirt roads at 75 mph. As a teenager, he mastered four foreign languages. He is now learning three more.**

Reminds me of home, and waxing all nostalgic...I just remembered that we did the same thing here, we took a community organizer who has never worn a uniform and made him Commander-in-Chief; a guy who has never led anything more than an ACORN demonstration and made him the leader of this country.
