Republican response I was glad to read.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The GOP leadership declined an official comment, but a Republican aide said it “sounds like Congresswoman Pingree is trying to politicize the tragedy, and that’s a shame.”

Republicans pushed pack against the suggestion that their rhetoric had in any way contributed to the Tucson tragedy, and they pointed out that Democrats were just as guilty of relying on violent metaphors and imagery.

Rep. Tom Cole (Okla.), a former chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee, blamed the media for pointing fingers at Palin and the Tea Party over their use of “targets” on Democrats.

“This attack on Sarah Palin is outrageous,” he said in an interview. “Give me a break. I’ve made my living in politics, and the word ‘targeting’ is not a new word in the political lexicon. That’s just something that is a normal term in how you are going to prioritize your political efforts.”

The Oklahoma Republican added, “I’ve never heard the Tea Party preaching violence; I’ve heard them preaching participation.”

From Hillbuzz=>Drudge Report yanked this story from the Memory Hole…where Leftists in California put up a “Halloween display” depicting Governor Sarah Palin hanging from a roof, execution style, her hands tied behind her back.

A good start would be for them to police themselves.

How many of these politicians and media outlets have spent the past few days basically accusing their opponents of murder?

That’s not incendiary at all is it?

My new congressman (Tim Walberg) had this to say.

“It’s better to be free with risks than live in fear,”

No he’s not the greatest speaker but he is a great conservative.

I wonder when they’ll get all those directional arrows I see flying by me on traffic signs and on streets. Surely their violent imagery contributes to the road rage problem in this country.

We need laws that assure present defamation laws apply to public figures.

It's past time the James Clyburns of the Democratic party were prevented from getting away with smearing others with lies.

The incident has nothing to do with speech. Absolutely NADA ZERO ZIP. The “Vitriol” promotion should make anyone with a functioning logic center in the brain realize this. It was created out of whole cloth from Democrat Central. I bet the Sheriff got a call and a fax from Crat central before the Press Conference. I doubt he came up with the Vitriol Rant on his own. The MSM and all Democrat Politicians are under one central propaganda control operation. The Communist Party. It is so transparent. Many Democrat voters are simple Dupes who pay not attention and just listen to the Democrat Media. Most are not even interested in politics.

Am I the only one struck by the overwhelming irony of all these speech restrictions being proposed to “honor” Representative Giffords who read the first amendment when the Constitution was read before the House?

Is the shooter being given a legal defense?

“Yes Judge, In all fairness, I felt it my patriotic duty to kill a few fellow citizens and do my part to balance the vitriol being spewed by Rush Limbaugh with the common decency being promoted by Chris Matthews, Michael Moore, Rachel Maddow, Ed Schultz, Andrea Mitchell, Bob Beckel, Jon Stewart, Paul Krugman........(ad nauseum) “.

I really think it is time to go our separate ways. Our political divide is not about a difference of opinion but a difference in culture that has become ingrained. Even our own Declaration of Independence acknowledges the fact that things can change over time. It does not have to be a bloody mess like the Civil War. You would think it would be mutual. I don’t understand how Liberals can be happy living amongst bigots, racists, stupid ignorant people just as I am extremely frustrated by living amongst people who don’t think the Constitution is the source of our strength as a country. Which is worse, having our reactionary government take away everything day in and day out so that they can control what we think and say now? This is really nuts!!! I don’t want to leave this country, I love it. But...I can’t live where my life is controlled from my speech to my light bulbs. Our ancestors left to find freedom...it seems we have come full circle.

All freedom-loving Americans should be wary of a political party that sets as its primary goal disarming the citizenry, both physically and vocally.

I suggest a bill that prohibits any legislative body from passing any law for 90 after such an event. Tincture of time is what's called for at this point, not a bunch of new laws passed by ‘do-something’ lawmakers.

One lawmaker, Rep. Robert Brady (D-Pa.), has said he would introduce a bill to make it a crime to threaten or incite violence against a federal official.

Robert Brady
(Dummy, PA)

(pssst, hey Bob) Have you ever heard or read this:
Amendment 1: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

And genius, whose to determine what 'incite violence' means / constitutes?

Or is it something as simple as my Tagline?
'Suppose you were an idiot. And suppose you were a member of Congress. But I repeat myself.'
That happens to be a quote from Mark Twain. Soooooo BOB, should we burn all his 'violence inciting' books? I sure hope not as that quote seems to fit YOU to a tee!

And here's a free clue Bob --- Almost ANYTHING spoken or written can 'incite violence' by a CRAZY PERSON. Even saying 'Hello', or 'Good Morning'.

#@$% *&@* $%#@ idiot!

Malignant political correctness, and the usual Democrat lowest common denominator response, i.e.:

If someone somewhere eats too much salt, ban all salt.

If someone somewhere misuses a firearm, ban all firearms.

If someone somewhere has a fat child eating a Happy Meal, ban all Happy Meals.

If someone somewhere says something “incendiary” (as defined by effete, metrosexual Democrats), ban all “incendiary” speech.

Nothing screams TOTALITARIAN DICTATORSHIP better than Democrat responses to any perceived “crisis” ...

The Supreme Court is going to be a very busy place for a few years.

Notice to the elitist politicians: THE BILL OF RIGHTS...THE FIRST AMENDMENT...THE CONSTITUTION

“...or abridging the freedom of speech or of the press,...”
