The same storms that hit the South and Midwest over the weekend will come together in the Northeast tonight into Wednesday, producing a broad-scale, very disruptive snowstorm and a blizzard in part of the region.
The snowfall, which will be the heaviest from New Jersey up through southeastern New England, will lead to school closings, major travel problems and even a daycare crisis over much of the Northeast.
Along Interstate 95, from Philadelphia through New York City, this will be a major snowstorm, but probably not an all-out blizzard. However, it will be worse than this past Friday-Saturday snow event.
In Philadelphia, from 4 to 8 inches of snow is forecast. in the New York metropolitan area 6 to 12 inches of snow is expected. From Hartford and Providence up through Boston and Portsmouth, there is the potential for 18 inches.

Brrr... we’re expecting snow in Seattle tonight, a few inches, but the rain following should wash it away soon.
Schools close. Work doesn’t. Parents go to work but kids have nowhere to go.

Darn global warming has already hit Atlanta with snow and ice, and now it’s spreading to the NE.

Oh yeah, the roads here can get extremely treacherous.
Already planned to WFH on Wednesday. That is work from home for those in Rio Linda.
But if that cold air is stubborn and sticks... oh boy.
I have worked outdoor events when it was -4 but it still wasn’t as cold as Boston at 28.

My worst memory was walking a mile to (elementary) school in -20F and strong winds. They didn't publish windchill factors back then.
But at least it was flat level both ways. *\;^)
Got an email from a colleague there -- 1/2" ice + 6" snow. Yikes,
Boston wind. I'd hate to try finding a pahking spot in Bahston tomarrah.
I just read on FB that Upton Teas in Holliston, MA isn’t even going to open tomorrow
Looking at the weather radar, I don’t think we’re going to see much. All day everything’s dissipating when it reaches the Sound, and even the stuff approaching Portland (likely to go south of us) is now dissipating.
Yep - Portland TV meteorologists are saying warming after midnight, but slick roads this evening. Just plain ‘ol rain tomorrow.
