Scalia Accepts Invite of Tea Party Leader, Criticized for ‘Exceedingly Poor Judgment’
ABA Journal ^ | 1/12/11 | Debra Cassens Weiss

Justice Antonin Scalia has accepted a speaking invitation from a Tea Party leader, drawing fire from some law professors and a liberal group.

Scalia will speak to incoming House members about the Constitution at the behest of U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., who founded the House’s Tea Party Caucus, the Los Angeles Times reports. The Jan. 24 topic will be separation of powers.

The meeting was described as bipartisan and open to all members of Congress. But several law professors who spoke to the newspaper criticized Scalia, saying the meeting appeared to politicize the court.

One of the critics was George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley. He told the Times that Scalia is showing "exceedingly poor judgment." Nan Aron, the president of the liberal Alliance for Justice, also criticized Scalia in a news release. “Justice Scalia should protect the integrity of the court and cancel his appearance at this blatantly partisan, right-wing event,” she said.

M. Edward Whelan, president of the Ethics and Public Policy Center and a former clerk to Scalia, supported his mentor. "My guess is that, schedule permitting, Scalia would be happy to speak on the same topic to any similar group of members of Congress who invited him,” he told the Los Angeles Times.

To make up for this he simply has to accept an invitation from a liberal group to talk about the constitution. Then everything is even. And yes I am being sarcastic.

Yes, Michelle done good. Now, about those pukes who are criticizing them, don’t they know that if he spoke before the ABA that would in itself constitute the sort of impermissible crossing of the line between church and state that needlessly excites so many of their kind.

A Supreme Court Justice is 'for-life'. Justice Scalia should enjoy the visit and exhibit the same questionable awe at the condemning remarks the same way that Nancy Pelosi responded to the question "What part of the Constitution gives you the authority to....." ....which was "Are you serious?".

Responding to these people and organizations with logic, saneness and reason don't seem to work. How about let's just try ignoring their trifling asses?

So the Tea Party leader is ACTUALLY A SITTING MEMBER OF CONGRESS who is acting in her capacity as such. Frickin’ media.

Of course, ALL the Liberal/Socialist law "experts" come out of the woodwork to criticize the Conservative. When "Ruth Buzzie" Ginsberg shows up at a NOW event, or a "Planned Parnethood" event; that's no big deal to them. And when one of their own says "a Wise Latina", she's cannonzied for it by them.

If Scalia would point out what the parasitic population of the inner city has misunderstood as a "Right" to handouts, he would be crucified by the State Run Media and the Left.

The Democrats have been successful at one thing; they've controlled the dialogue (implementing such things as "hate speech" and "political correctness", to shut up the opposition) as they ripped apart the U.S. Constitution, and we are reaping the "benefits" in every inner-city and at our southern border EVERY DAY.

Why be sarcastic? I think it would be an excellent idea for Scalia to speak to a liberal group of congress critters. Maybe they would learn something...nah...what was I thinking!

Still think it's a good idea, even if they are beyond learning anything.

The Liberals are turning inside out as the Constitution is getting too much attention these days in their opinion.

They have tried to bury the Constitution, thus bury this Nation under as much Leftist excrement as they could muster.

The Constitution is to Liberals as the cross is to the Vampire.

Oh no! A conservative invited to talk about the Constitution. What’s next, a liberal invited to talk about Rules for Radicals?

I wonder what Jonathan Turley doesn't understand about that, all members of Congress would benefit from a Justice talking about our Constitution.

What is up with liberals?

Perish the thought a Supreme Court justice actually have a discussion of the US Constitution with members of congress or the American people.

All these liberals didn’t cry about the “wise Latina” Sonia Sotomayor, when she made political comments that she was better than a white man in front of La Raza, a Mexican fascist group at Berkekey, as a sitting judge.

America has gone from a nation which at one time focused honor upon individuals or groups for their work or creative or inventive achievements; to focusing attention upon a class of whining miscreants whose only claim is to have become offended first. It’s like a race to see who soils their drawers first and then we are expected to be really, really interested in the precise nature of the contents of their soiled underwear. This isn’t enlightenment...it’s the jackassization of self-proclaimed eggheaded intellectuals.

Listen to these idiots! The Tea Party is all about supporting the Constitution and holding elected officials accountable when they do not. Never mind that these pointy headed dimwits ignore the fact that each and every member of Congress takes a oath to support and defend the Constitution.

Supreme Court Justices get invited all the time to speak before groups. I can't think of a better group for Scalia to give a speech than the Tea Party, and afterwards I can't wait to hear the baseless complaints of these left-wing insignificant whiners.
