DETROIT (Reuters) – The United Auto Workers has had preliminary private discussions with some nonunion automakers about organizing U.S. plants as it aims to expand to Asian and European companies, UAW President Bob King said on Wednesday.

King declined to name the companies the UAW has talked to under its latest organizing plan that includes a plea to companies to agree to "trust principles" for bargaining with the union.

"We are in some preliminary discussions which we agreed to keep confidential so we will do that," King told reporters at the Automotive News World Congress that is held on the sidelines of the Detroit auto show.

"These are all really good companies," King said. "We just have to convince them that we are not the evil empire that they thought we were at one point."

WTF! This has to be stopped! BMW, Mercedes, VW, Hyundai, Toyo and Honda need to tell the UAW to get ******. They need to tell them they will close the plants first.

Is that when the Mafia thug comes to your door and make you an offer you can’t refuse?

My fear is that the UAW will infect the asian manufacturers, and the asian companies will be forced to pull their manufacturing out of America. And once again, the UAW would do what it does best, kill jobs.

That would be great, since the union has done so much for the American auto industry.

IOW, you have to lie! Perhaps some Chicago thug tactics will convince them!

If Asian and European entities get involved with the UAW, they will be sorry as the UAW will drive their costs up beyond all reason and make then far less competitive in the marketplace just as they did with US manufacturers.

"United Auto Workers has had preliminary private discussions with some nonunion automakers about organizing U.S. plants"

The UAW and the Public Sector Unions are using extortion to fleece taxpayers already, and now are seeking to drive ALL manufacturing offshore. Those currently running non-union plants will re-locate to Mexico, and jobs will be gone forever. This trend has led to our economic collapse already, yet the ORGANIZED CRIME of Unions is allowed to continue, simply because they take taxpayer money to funnel to the Socialists who in turn take taxpayer money to give back to Unions in a money-laundering operation like no other.

Each auto company needs to tell the states where they have factories in that they will close up shop. They just need to say one word to those states - “NUMMI.”

This was the Toyo joint venture in Calif with GM/Chevy. Toyo shut it down then started getting complaints about acceleration issue. Nummi!

If the unions (never happen) become TOTALLY NONPOLITICAL I might buy a union made car.

Until then, "UNION MADE" means I will NEVER buy it.
