Very soon, the lovely young girls at George Washington University will start selling donuts outside the DC Metro stations to raise money for their spring break trip to work among the poor in Mexico. I never buy any, and try to discourage my co-workers from buying any either. I'm NOT helping to send those girls into that hellhole.
I would think that the American men are being raped, too.

End the Peace Corps.
The American people don’t need it and their private charitable international aid organizations do a better, more meaningful job - from the heart, not because they want “the nation” to pat them on the back.
If you want to “help” people in need, anywhere, you do not need the U.S. federal government to deliver almost any kind of aid you are interested in helping with. There are hundreds of charitable outfits already engaged in doing it. Join one, or donate to one; forget the Peace Corps.

Most of these kids have absolutely no frame of reference for the level of brutality they’re subjecting themselves to when working in the third-world.
I’ve worked with a couple of hard cases overseas - young men who simply could not comprehend the environment. Had to send them home as they were a danger to themselves and to others in our organization.
Inserting idealistic young women into these situations is lunacy.
They did ask for this, the peace corps that is.
