Oh, It’s On: Charles Krauthammer Responds To Rush Limbaugh’s “Slobbering” Critique
MEDIAite ^ | January 14, 2011 | Alex Alvarez

A house divided against itself cannot stand… but it will certainly garner a lot of media attention. As we told you earlier, conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh is criticizing Fox News Channel’s “All-Star Panel” for, as he sees it, “slobbering” over President Barack Obama’s speech at this week’s memorial event for those killed in the recent Tucson, Arizona shooting.

Fox News is, of course, fighting back. Charles Krauthammer appeared on Bret Baier’s show last night and responded to Limbaugh’s critique:

"As one of the three slobberers… I find it interesting that only the ruling class wants a president who is smart articulate and oratorical in delivering a funeral oration… It’s an odd and rather condescending view of what the rest of America is looking for in their president."

What struck me about the speech was Obama’s galling hypocrisy in calling for civility and near-comical self-aggrandizement about “Gabby” opening her eyes. Out here in fly-over land, the tawdry political/media display following the shooting is helping to galvanize the Tea Party movement for 2012. Krauthammer and Noonan don’t have a clue.

Rush by 10.

I will refuse to watch Krauthammer from now on. I’ll just turn off the TV or watch AOTS.

I’m very disappointed with Brit Hume too.

Krauthhammer is part of the inside the beltway chattering class. His praising of Obama and attacking Rush is necessary to be popular among the Washington crowd.

...should have given the credit to the speechwriter instead of the speech reader.

Speaking of the speech reader (and the fawning media reveling in the absence of TOTUS) he seemed to have a 3x5 card with one sentence and read one sentence at a time. He looked down at the card, began to speak, looked left then right (muscle memory from TOTUS dependence) and then back down at the next card - then repeat cycle.

We get more substance from blogs than belt way boy Washington insider Krauthammer! I guess he’s trying to make himself relevent.

The Krauth is beginning to sound mentally ill and I used to really like him.

Krauthammer has two sides to his brain, but not the normal left side/right side split. He has a conservative side and a Beltway side. The conservative side motivates him to write a stirring column condemning liberal attacks on the Tea Party and Sarah Palin over the Tucson shootings. The Beltway side has him castigating Sarah Palin for defending herself (only Beltway-approved conservatives should be doing that) and fawning over Obama's speech (after all, there are still A-list cocktail parties to get invited to).

The net result is that the two sides, unfortunately, tend to cancel each other out. And since Krauthammer is unelected, the chances of getting him out of the Beltway and back into the real world, to allow his conservative brain the chance to function unfettered, are sadly very low.

Krauthammer is a smart guy, and a capable writer. But he has contracted a case of irreversible moronitis.

I'm afraid it's Obamaitis after Zero mentioned the Hammer by name.

And to Charles if he reads this: All three of you were slobbering. It was sickening.

Krauthammer lauded and “slobbered” over Obama in his prediction before Obama ever uttered a word at the so called memorial. And of course Charles went about proving himself correct. A programed viewpoint.

While Rush has a consistent, well ordered conservative political mind, Krauthammer has vacillated between gigs with Jimmah Carter, Fritz Mondale and Fox News. One shouldn't be too harsh with Charles if forgets where he is and loses his train of thought from time to time.

The real Krauthammer:

"Ultimately, a civilized society must disarm its citizenry if it is to have a modicum of domestic tranquility of the kind enjoyed by sister democracies such as Canada and Britain. Given the frontier history and individualist ideology of the United States, however, this will not come easily. It certainly cannot be done radically. It will probably take one, maybe two generations. It might be 50 years before the United States gets to where Britain is today. Passing a law like the assault weapons ban is a symbolic - purely symbolic - move in that direction. Its only real justification is not to reduce crime but to desensitize the public to the regulation of weapons in preparation for their ultimate confiscation."
- Charles Krauthammer (from: 'Disarm the Citizenry', The Washington Post, Friday, April 5, 1996, page A19)

Do you need to know anything else about Krauthammer?

Who has Rush ever lost to? It's like the Israeli Air Force vs. the Syrian Air Force. It is no contest.

Rush vs. Harry Reid
Rush vs. Sheriff Dupnik
Rush vs. Clinton
Rush vs. Obama
Rush vs. any number of other congressmen and senators

When does Rush lose? He can pound anybody 3 hours a day, five days a week, and do it with humour. People are insane to piss him off.

You are so right on...as has Bill O’Reilly since he was invited to the White House Christmas party...I have noticed it as well. They are “hookers for praise”....a pitiful place to be.

Obama is a joke, and so is Krauthammer.

So he can read what someone else has written, and put in front of him on a teleprompter.

That doesn't make him smart - it makes him a tool!

What? Is somebody pregnant?

Wondering the same thing here since Rush also made reference to his being a parent when discussing the Chinese mama article. Maybe Kat gave him a positive EPT for his 60th birthday?

Agreed. Krauthammer buys ink by the barrel but Rush has minds by the millions.

Rush has already run rings around the slobbering bobs who find marxism and corruption of lesser importance than a speech.

No, Lincoln was known for his oratory even before he became President. He was a nationally-known speaker, especially on the slavery issue.

“I find it interesting that only the ruling class wants a president who is smart articulate and oratorical in delivering a funeral oration”

I agree with your response....Obama started off the speech in a manner of memorializing....but as his speech went on he became caught up in the reaction of the student audience and by the time it was completed he had fallen into inflections and pointing and louder words...just like a campaign speech. That is when I felt it was designed to be a rallying speech....not a memorial.
