Internet Controlled Shotguns Discovered In Georgia (Yes, you read that correctly)
CBS Atlanta / The Augusta Chronicle ^ | January 17, 2011

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Georgia authorities are investigating the discovery of six loaded shotguns aimed at a food plot that were rigged to be fired through a network of Web-controlled cameras.

The Augusta Chronicle reported the guns were discovered last fall on Georgia Power Company right of way in rural south Georgia.

The set up was discovered by a utility contractor and it was reported to the U.S. Office of Homeland Security.

The newspaper reported that a bulletin circulated by the Office of Homeland Security said it appeared that the rig was only intended for illegal hunting in an area known to be infested with wild hogs.

The newspaper reported that by the time officers arrived to investigate the shotgun setup had been removed.

Look stupid I bought my frost reloading press in 1975, so you just take your little stupid personal attacks and stick them where the sun don’t shine. There is a large difference in being a hunter and being a wanton slaughter.

Needless to say, the police are working on, or already have, similar such units.

“the first law broken is trespass”

No one trespassed. The utility worker was on an easement. The firearms were set up by the landowner. I’m assuming the Feds got a warrant.

If not, them you’re right - they would have been trespassing.

Wanton?

I kill feral hogs with extreme prejudice.

The State of Texas wants them gone, though realistically we know we can't kill them all.

It is also against federal law to connect an electrical device to a weapons trigger, it is called building a machine gun.

An easement is not ownership. The landowner retains all rights to his land that do not interfere with the easement.

And that includes allowing 4 wheelers, bikers, and anyone else he’d like access to a trail system.

There was a show last night on one of the Discovery channels called “Pig Bomb”. They claimed pig populations have gone from 1m to 6 m in the US in the last 10 years. Big problem.

Stupid? I'm not the one accusing a property owner of trespassing on his own property. I'm not the one attacking a private gun owner of being a "pervert" for wanting to eliminate a destructive pest problem.

I don't care if you and John Moses Browning were swapping spit in the wee hours of the morning in 1910. Your anti-gun comments stand better testament than any epithet I could come up for you.

"While law enforcement has been aware of such capabilities for some time, very few agencies have come across actual clandestine systems such as the one found in 2010."

They are also illegally used by kids to ride their dirt bikes and four wheelers.

Because it makes much more sense for them to ride along the shoulder of the highway, or in public parks tearing up animal habitats.

Discovery has a special they call “Pig Bomb”. It talks about the population explosion and impact on agriculture. The hog population can double to triple every year.
